Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

seriously - i took a drive up to sydney, and back - i love low VW's and i think they look fggin sweet, but i couldnt take it anymore - it took me 12 hrs, at some points at 70kmh, on the way down the Hume, and i STILL took some seriously bad hits - my front bump stops are compressed, and im not anywhere near as low as some of you guys!

so yeah. low is sick, but whatever meets you go to, i'll be the one rocking up in the little polo with 3 fingers' worth of wheel arch gap - even my kid sister, last night, commented on how much better the ride is.

so yeah. sorry to leave the club, guys......
You're getting closer to my world
Next are the 14" wheels and 175/65R14 (or even 175/70R14) tyres

BTW I thought you were o/s. Will you be going on the monthly cruise?

On another quick note - what wheels are they? They're not those Lenso Type M's you were running?

yeah - i wanted to raise it even more at the front, but im like at the top of the thread on the driver's side. i swear, next car i get is going to be auto and soft as all sheight - my back was actually sore as i was coming back into melbourne on the hume.

i will be going to Indo very soon - hopefully by the tenth of may. can't make it to the monthly cruise - well, not for all of it. i might be able to come along for part of it, though. i'll see how i go.

yeah troy, i reckon it would be really interesting to compare how the car feels/ lap times if you completely ignored "looks" and raised your car like 50mm - i reckon you'd really be able to take advantage of that damping.

I'll probably bail early too - maybe we can diesel out from the pack of gassers, together.

                  • Fitted the VAG OEM dogbone and changed my rear sway from medium to soft.

SO much more comfortable to drive.

In the exact same position.. Why did you decide to sell?

and that is the reason I'm not selling mine, sure there is new cars out there and mine is getting on a bit but I just love it way too much to sell.

                          • Also sold mine 2 weeks ago after 6 years of ownership, sad day. Was such a fun, deceptively quick car to drive! However the new car has exceeded my expectations so far

Cheers for all the information you guys have passed on over the years, air intakes, suspension, tunes, cosmetics, cubby holders, etc etc etc.. Awesome information that really opened up the potential of this car!!

I'm selling because I'm going overseas for a year and will want something a bit bigger when I get back.

No point letting it waste away while I'm gone only to have the value drop.

                              • Gave the car it's first clay-barring whilst I've owned it and gave it a polish as well.
The temperature dropped quite quickly so the waxing will have to wait till tomorrow.
                                I'm exhausted.
