Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Installed a Forge rear strut brace on the weekend. Install was pretty straight forward and was completed in about an hour.

Chassis feels noticeably more rigid which I could tell straight away even from reversing down my driveway. Overall grip levels seem like they have also improved...mid corner body roll is a lot less noticeable and the car feels a bit grippier...turn in has also improved and feels more responsive and direct!

I know a lot of people dismiss strut braces as "bling" and useless pieces of metal that bolt on and do nothing but trust me, they do.

And all this at normal suburban 40-50km/h speeds...can't wait to test it on the track!

    • Nice. Any photos? Is this the one that you have to bolt to the rear suspension towers?

      -edit-

found the guide, I don't remember there being a good option for a removable rear bar... makes me want one...

Cant seem to find it on the Forge website.

      • not so much my car but anthony's (vwindahouse) got rid of all scratches and swirl marks on roof and bonnet. I will leave the review to him but I think it came up damn well

        • I installed my rear strut brace about a month ago. Honestly i didn't really notice that much of a difference compared to the Front strut brace or RSB. maybe its because my pog is pretty stiff already but hopefully nationals will prove me wrong

          • Fitted my newly acquired N75J valve, and now it won't boost over 10lb (I have an APR tune). Any ideas??

            • Backwards? Could be a bad one, they seem to be pretty flimsy

              • I put it in the same as the stock one.

That's interesting because we have pretty much identical mods...but I agree, will be interesting to see on the track

It was awesome to see the detailing professor at work. I seriously though a full roof respray was on the cards, but you proved me oh so happily wrong

                      Cheers Jason!

                            • Hahaha... So, after my brain fart of tonight, I have a couple of more pounds of extra boost. I have added an N75 J valve, and added an extra shim to the 17/22lb spring in my Forge 007 DV after I pulled it apart and gave it a clean and relube I'm quite happy with the results.
