Well I had been looking for stuff to do on the Polo while I have free days on night shift.
Straight off my Mad MAx DV arrived last night. So that went in.
Then a few weeks back I got a replacement brakelight as I am changing the rear spoiler. So I got busy removing the standard one and Anthony text to say he had received a shipment form China today. Sweet.
Light fitted and jumped in the Squib to pick up the spoiler.
Stopped at Supercheap for Sikaflex and heading back home.
Engine starts making odd noises, got a bit of top end rattle and no oil pressure.
Gutted doesn't really cover it.
So tomorrow I'll get him towed home for the 3rd time and get the sump off and see what's going on in there.
Fingers crossed it's the oil pump and there's no other damage.
It wouldn't be a true project car if didnt deliver those love and hate moments. Not sure what it is with project cars being suicidal, but seems to go with the turf. All the best with it.

Im sure you shut it down quick enough, singer sewing machine noise is never good, especially long term. So surprised to hear all these 1.8t dramas to be fair, hardly seen any, only on really badly looked after engines , wrong folk servicing them and using wrong stuff ie oil and crap filters, I know for sure that's not you. Sounds like a string of bad luck, it must have so neglected before. hope you get it sorted otherwise itll be a never ending spend.

Yeah obviously my concern is that I don't find the real cause. This isn't the original motor, although it does have the filter mount off the one that did the belt. So maybe I transferred some issues over with that?
I am pretty sure that even with 2 motors in pieces, I didn't stick the oil pump form the suspect engine in this one. Which could be another error?
Also noteworthy. Mine was displaying the same pressures as Lito's is currently.
I gave Carlos my gauges mate and it was reading fine apparently, compared to dash gauge if that's what was meant to be relayed?? Maybe I picked him up wrong, I gave him the specs and it was good apparently, I heard his engine and to be fair without a gauge the trained ear would give it green light. Maybe in error you have put the wrong pump in mate?? did you mark em? And not being the orig motor that's a worry coz I could see it happening to the Orig one but another, hmm they don't fail that much, would be real bad luck 2 in a row.
Good luck mate,
