Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Not planned date for the Frankie mate. Still need to buy some parts, rings, gaskets. I want to get the valve seats cut, like I mentioned. Be a couple of months I guess. Although, when it comes around, it'll get done quick.
MAybe end of May would be good for the Nationals?
Rods going on.
12 minutes later
Go on Gavin, just hone it as well, it'll only take a few minutes.
Oh OK.

On the other hand, I can read English and use google.
The biggest obstacle is information and tools. There's a youtube video on fitting the rods, which I watched before starting on Litos. There's a few tools that you wouldn't find in the average tool box but they don't cost much at Trade tools.
I bought piston ring compressor, ring expander, Ribe bit for the head bolts, some external torx looking sockets to undo the rod bolts and cam caps, flexi hone tool and oil. I already had 1/2 inch and 3/8 torque wrenches.
Sometimes it's not enough to have just one 6mm allen key though, ball-ended or different lengths are required to make the job easier.
What I am saying is don't be afraid to have a go, you were there to fit the turbo. It's not really any more complicated.
I always told people who asked what I'd do if I couldn't put it all back together. "Take it somewhere and pay. I'll have saved half the labour".
Practice makes perfect, I was definitely getting quicker as I went along with the rods and i didn't have to do any twice because I put them in backwards.....
I still reckon the 3 times to 50lbs is my method. Unless you have some plastigauge Jesse??

Nice work i was going to go as far as that with the AGU, have stared at it many times as its still not hard bolted to the car, the fact i have to fit my low level sump made me think about going up with strength, but thinking itll be strong enough, you will vouch for that re your old A3, it was loos as hey
Might do nationals too this year. in what dont know might do what i did last time
Cheers

Seb said the box was in good condition as well. He thought it hadn't been thrashed.
Mine is taking forever.
The motor is in. The exhaust should be done by now. Will have to wait for the downpipe to be removed and ceramic coated.
Should be on the road next week. It keeps growing though.
I ordered a W/M kit for it as well.
I'd like to get the motor run in before the Sydney Dyno day on the 13th April.
Good luck with the build mate. I'm sure it will be a tough motor when done.
