They can do whatever i want, thing is not to go to wide without looking out of place, I know 235 is a more common tyre sizeOriginally posted by Redliner View PostI'd be in for a set of those. Group buy maybe? This is something I will be investigating when I get my car back.
Though it would be nice to fit a 235 if possible.
Car looks great mate.
The cost of making up a mould and producing the first one would be around $2000
. I guess them if you could sell 3 or 4 sets and divide the cost, might be around 800 each .
I would have to give them 2 guards from a wrecker and a wheel with a 235 and tell them to make it work lol
Few things that turn me off about getting the metal guards modified is -
1. If you have a accident or dent it, very expensive to repair
2. They will never match both sides, not that you will be able to tell
3. Metal is heavier then fiberglass
4. Cost $$$$Last edited by vwthunder; 17-01-2013, 08:25 AM.MODS- TOO MANY

Is it possible to use a hardened yet flexible plastic guard like the nissan X-trails do on the front. Would take some knowledge of plastics. Having only a very basic (1st yr engineering knowledge) of plastic, I don't believe an X-trail guard could be melted and remoulded as it'll likely change all the properties and the way that it is cured affects the plasticity of the product. But might be a thought once you have the mould.Originally posted by vwthunder View PostFew things that turn me off about getting the metal guards modified is -

People warned me against it saying the would creak and groan and be hard to go up driveways etcOriginally posted by Stuwey View PostWhat does the cage weigh?
Feel any different to drive?
After 1 day or driving it around normally on the roads, well it seems quieter (dont know how that works), apart from that, no difference
Weight is about 30kg
Will get a pic when i put it up on a jack (of flex etc) next weekLast edited by vwthunder; 17-01-2013, 09:41 AM.MODS- TOO MANY

Its a big investment, so it would require a few people in to order some. Not paying 2K for one set !!!MODS- TOO MANY

A 235 might be possible on the front, but your still not going to be able to fit more than a 215 on the backOriginally posted by Redliner View PostThough it would be nice to fit a 235 if possible.
Thinking out loud, maybe a fiberglass place can do it, maybe not. Guess a factory guard needs to be pumped out the old fashioned way in steel before a mould could be made, there is also the problem of the bumper matching up, i was told maybe there could be a add on piece for the side of the bumper to puff the side out a little to match the guard
Would be nice to have a 9inch wheel on the front too

Yeah I've found that also. Since the 3 under braces went on plus changing both the front and rear sways to the hardest settings all the creek and groans have completely gone plus some road NVH. The Polo must have a pretty weak chassis??

Maybe, tho it cant be bad as some other cars out there, seeing as it is so smallOriginally posted by VWindahouse View PostYeah I've found that also. Havent had a chance to get on here much and only just got back from OS , nice to come on and see your progress mate, thats a cracking shot with a nice stealth look and cheeky glimpse of the frame. Cheers thanks Jimmy, the car can only progress as far as my $$$ can stretch. Ultimatley I would love a 1.8 stroked to 2.0 with 400hp, 6speed 02M with LSD, smooth engine bay, and to pump all the guards out.Originally posted by Jmac View PostHavent had a chance to get on here much and only just got back from OS , nice to come on and see your progress mate, thats a cracking shot with a nice stealth look and cheeky glimpse of the frame. I'm in if we can get three or four people. Getting the power down to the ground is the next challenge.Originally posted by vwthunder View Post

This is easily the best looking Polo 6N3 I've ever seen. Kudos!
