  • that's awesome mate. just be careful if she lets go as you'll be carrying more speed.

So when you hitting the track, drag or circuit? I'm wanting to do quite a few from here on, QR and the odd one at Lakeside. Did another advanced driving day at morgan park day a few weeks back so have a few more little tricks up the sleeve I want to practise.
Track Car: 06 Polo GTI Red Devil mkII
    Daily: 2010 VW Jetta Highline
Gone but not forgotten: 08 Polo GTI

Thanks Sean, and good advise also!

I want to hit a few 1/4's after Phase III is complete to see if I can swing a mid to low 13 run. The Devil is also my daily driver so I don't really want to make a habit of testing all the parts associated with dropping the clutch at 2500rpm too often lol.

But as for the track, yeah mate please count me in!!! I think that's where the Polo will really shine which heaps of awesome Australian Polo's have already shown.

      • Sorry just to add some technical data on the wheels.

        I believe the OEM Denvers where 16x6.5” 43ET (2006 model Polo) 9.3kgs, 20.48lbs.

Then I replaced those with Speedy Lite-X 17x7.0” 45ET 8.3kgs, 18.3lbs, which gave 4mm extra poke and saved 1kg per rim.

Then from the Speedy's to the Enkei 17X8" 35ET and only 7kg, 15.5lbs per rim. Effectively saving a further 1.3kgs and giving a massive 23mm more poke!

        • Looking good mate!

The extra poke sure does make a difference...

What rubber did you go with?

          • Thanks noone!!

Just kept the fairly new Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's. I was considering going to a wider tyre but I think the 215/40R17's are a good fit at this stage.

              • Thanks Plautos! I would love to get 18" rims like yourself as they look great, but the roads over here in Brisbane are pretty shocking and I feel every bump and pot hole as is.

                • Some new stuff arrived this week!

Firstly a Deka very, very small and light weight battery and a MMP battery box to suit. They will totally replace the EOM box and battery freeing up heaps of space under the bonnet and saving 12kg!!

                  • Also found a turbo bolt locking devise from 034 Motorsport that Jimmy thinks is worth a go as well as the Verdict Motorsport aluminium shift bushings finally came as well.

Also from 034 a oil catch can.

                    • So many goodies, must have heaps of fun buying them lol

Cant wait to see the Battery in, I was wondering about the distribution block thing on top of the battery that the Polo uses ?
                      MODS- TOO MANY

                      • Yeah, I took the Devil around to Jimmy's a week ago to ask him about that. He said it would be fairly easy to relocate it. I think also now seeing how small the new battery and box is there will be heaps of room on the right hand side engine bay wall. I will post some pictures of the end result as soon as he can fit me in!

                        • Yeah my next battery will be small one too, like Optima 7kg model. I was thinking the exact same thing to relocate. I am thinking of the boot, or even the spare well. This would benefit from 1) weight distribution 2) weight loss. Weight loss without thinking of distribution is waste of time, it might go faster straight, but that's about it.
                          06 Polo GTI - REVO Stage 2 = 140kw @ wheels.
06 Golf GTI - Bluefin Stage 1 blacked out with ED30 theme, leather, xenon, etc.

Yeah i was looking at completely relocating to the boot as well but I do a bit on semi country driving to the farm so I can't afford to loose the spare or any space in the boot. But I agree with you about the front to rear weight distribution.
