Hi all and happy Easter! Things have been going a little slow lately but are set to heat up this week with some dyno time to see what my current set up has to offer plus the addition of the SEAT fmic and light weight crank pulley!
Also here is a quick shot of the rear showing the recent wiper delete, de-badge and the addition of some Hella tail lights with the black surrounds
I have more serious body work modifications planned but will wait until all the power mods are done.
Lol, yeah sorry Troy i've been living vicariously through your build and picture threads in the mean time! Love those bonnet struts bud! Did you get your brakes sorted over Easter?

No, not sorted yet, hopefully the back ones will be on tomorrow. Just ordered the ECS Stage 2 versoin 2 upgrade and a power bleeder yesterday.
Dont know if i told you before, but I dont have a garage, only a basement parking spot, so i have to drive to someones house get a few hours in, then put the car back together every time i want to work on it.
If I had a garage the car would be pulled apart and probably taken off the road, as i would get a cheap daily.

Sounds like a mission and a half! Can't wait to see rears on though.
Howdy again. Well hit the rollers today at BPS and was accompanied by Jmac who weaved some of his usual magic and fitted the ECS light weight crank pulley in the car park moments before showtime! Here's a pic of it fitted
So it turns out the set of ECS light weight underdrive pulleys I bought were no good. We knew the polo didn't need the power steering one but the alternator was the issue as the polo's alternators pulley is clutched unlike the Golf. So if you're wanting to do this upgrade yourself just purchase the lightweight crank pulley on its own and not the kit. Anyway the car feels more rev happy as a result so win there.
So my last dyno pull I managed 140.98kw and about 365nm (hard to tell from the graph). May not sound like much but was enough to only just pip two other quality polo's with Ko4s, full exhaust, FMIC & appropriate tunes etc. Since then the performance mods I've added to the Devil are
CAI, 2.5" catback and the pulley. And here are the new figures
So not much of a kw increase at all, but very happy with a 10nm increase to 375! This is one very torqey little car which imo adds the most fun factor when it mashes you into your seat at about 3000rpm! Infact for those who have ever driven a 3 MPS you will know exactly what I'm on about and they only had 380nm at the crank from factory.
Ok so James said the Ko3s is completely out of puff as you can see by the drop off at 5000rpm. So the next step is a custom hybrid/ball bearing conversion to see what that yeilds. Mark from Billet Turbos should have something for me by the end of May!! So in the mean time the SEAT front mount goes on next week then it's back to the dyno to see how it goes. I have a feeling Jimmy's going to be importing a few of these badboys.
My internet was down all bloody day sorry mate. Thanks Gav, very happy with the tune and results. Not too many cars out there that can boast a 45kw at the wheels increase from stock without a turbo upgrade.
short of me trawling through every page of this thread (again, i'm sure i've done it before at work haha), I was wondering whether you could give a quick list of your "power" mods that got you to such an impressive number?
I'd like to know how I can gain those extra 18 odd killer wasps
Custom-Code is one thing See if Unitronics, custom setting utility will connect to your ECU then bump the timing up. It's a free download.
You need a VCDS cable to make changes and log the timing pull.

Ha ha glad I'm not the only one trawing through build threads at work! As Gav said mate, a lot to do with the tune but for me these other mods helped big time;
ATP manifold which was HPC coated, 14lbs lightweight flywheel, Forge DV with yellow spring, colder plugs and thermostat and a phenolic spacer. Check out the first page of the thread for the updated list.
