Hello everyone. Seems there is an issue with Telstra (possible others) blocking email from our server. If you are trying to sign up I would suggest a different email if possible. If you're trying to reset your password and it fails please use the Contact Us page:
The 7 speed DQ200 has always has issues with 3rd gear - something to do with the selector fork from memory. The "false neutral" terminology comes from the VW dealerships - might not be the correct explanation for what is actually happening though.I still remember a few years ago driving a new Skoda Fabia vRS with the same engine/DSG combo as the Polo GTI (1.4 twincharge and DQ200 DSG) and hearing the gearbox make a metallic click/clunk type noise when shifting through 3rd gear.
My Mk6 Golf 118TSI has no issue with 2nd to 3rd gear changes, manual or self shifting, smooth as.

Mate, you are just lucky so far. Lets hope it stays that way for you.
I have 5 friends (and none of them are on this forum) who have between them had 4 full DSG gearbox replacements and 8 (YES 8 ) clutchpack replacements ..... 1 Polo GTI, 2 x MK6 TSI AND 2 x MK7 TSIs !!!! ..... Not to mention 2 full engine replacments on the twin-charge GTI and 1 of the MK6's.
This well documented problem has not been resolved at all despite what VW is telling prospective buyers ....
What is worse is that I recommended the 2 MK6 buyers into their cars and tried to discourage the MK7 buyers. In the case of the MK7s, the answer was: "My dealer said the problems have been fixed, she'll be right mate ...."
Needless to say none of them will buy VW again.

It's strange (I have no other word for it) where everyone you know has had a problem and everyone I know hasn't. Except for the female sales rep who fried a clutch pack, but even she hasn't had any issues since. It's not like I'm a VW fan boy, the Golf is the first VW my wife or I have ever owned. Although I did drive a beetle once, scared the crap out of me and I've avoided them ever since.
I also have this issue with mine, I noticed that it only occurs when I have it in "S" + manual but in saying that I have not tried in just manual.
I have my car booked in with VW on the 24th October in conjunction with my 1 year service. I am also getting a metal smell when i come to a complete stop with the car after it has just been in S mode.
Will wait to here back from them and hope that they fix it.
Brief update on my 2nd to 3rd clunk: issue easily replicated to Service Manager this morning, booked car at dealer again on 12th next month for a few days, loan car organised. Said they had not encountered any others with this issue. Hopefully can be fixed with a software update.

Basically what happened with me.... Except they just reset the DSG & said come back in 1k kms.
I asked them to log the issue so at least VW are aware I'd reported an issue.
12 month service due in 6-8 weeks so interested to hear if they manage to fix yours - good luck!!

Interim update before car goes to dealer next Wednesday: current DSG software version for my April 2015 model is 0307 (2015 South Africa Polo GTI was 0610 and 0901 when fixed).
Scanning this morning (Auto-logic) was compliments MRL Auto, thoroughly recommended for servicing etc. if you own a VW in SA. Will get an update scan done after next Wed. to confirm new version number because dealer told me “VW Australia don’t reveal version numbers”.
Be interested to know what version numbers are working or not working for your cars??
I don't know about VW but most manufacturers don't tell their service departments stuff like software versions as there is no need for them to know and they also are not interested as it means nothing to them. The only question they need answered is did the SW update fix it or not. I imagine any comparison between software for different counties would be impossible due to customisation to suit different markets.
Dropped my new polo gti with 4000kms off to the dealer the other day with the same issue all you guys are talking about
The Volkswagen diagnosis was that they couldn't find any faults when scanning for the issue.... although the senior technician took the car for a drive and found the car didn't seem right
So the work preformed to achieve a fix is an update to the dsg box and a replacement of the mechatronics unit
in my case
Apparently there may have been a sticky valve in the unit
This is what they have done to my car so ill let you know if it is still suffering from these issues

Appreciate the info. thanks. Assume the parts need to be ordered etc. so it does not have the new mechatronics yet? but keep us updated.
Cheers
