My car went in for its first 12month service (has 9000kms on the clock) on Friday, took the tech for a drive to replicate it and he felt it. They gave me a call later in the day and said they sent the disk to VW HQ and they came back with a software update that the DSG needed. I can confirm that it is now running perfectly. no jolts and clunks and no fear that the box will drop out the ass of the car haha. Hope this helps.
    Good news!!
Mine goes in on Thursday - what dealership did the service for you? Would you have any contact so I can pass on to the service guys here in Perth?

    • Geez, when will VW wake up and stop using the dreaded DQ200?? Surely they can come up with a more reliable box!

There has to be a reason for it - surely the Golf DSG would fit and work in the Polo?

So why did my dealer give me a load of bull**** about 10 days ago saying they updated my car with latest software and that VW was not aware of this clunk issue? I phoned them a few days later and told them I was not at all happy with VW Australia, 2 hours later they phone me back advising me to bring it in again because VW now believe they have a software update that will fix it.

Left the car for 2 days with them for it to be thrashed early morning straight out of the workshop, from cold, as proved by a mini dash cam behind the mirror. It's not going back now until the gear box drops out.

I understand the DQ250 (as per the GTI/R) is too big heavy. I think they need a total redesign of the DQ 200 to 'convert' it to a more reliable wet clutch.

Had the service done where I purchased the vehicles - McCarroll's Volkswagen Hornsby (Sydney) - Good bunch of blokes that have always been helpful and willing to get to the bottom of any issues and not just palm me off with some crap excuse.

Relax mate, I am not sure why your dealer gave you a load a bull****? I just thought I would share my experience with the issue and the fix I got.

                  • I've given the dealership the info SBmusic provided & the CS managers reply is below:

"I have the foreman looking for TPI’s from the factory now that marry up with the info in your emails below."

                    • &....

There are only 3 TPI’s listed on VGA’s data base that are available for you VIN.

                      1. Squeak noise on gear change (generally results in replacing the DSG clutch)
                      2. Shudder on take-off (generally results in replacement of the clutch)
                      3. No drive (generally results in the mechatronics being replaced)

Would it be too much of a stretch to ask for the VIN of the vehicle on the forum that received the software update?

                      SBmusic - I'll send you a PM.

Hey not having a go at you SAmusic. My anger is directed at my dealer who has admitted to me today he did not initially even approach VW Australia about a software fix for the issue while the car was in the workshop for 2 days and instead blamed it on my Milltek exhaust system. Yes dealer has now contacted VW Australia and found out there is a likely software fix for this issue, I missed out and for various reasons I will not take the car back.

Any chance you can find out what the TPI is on the 'fix' mate... SAmusic has gone quiet on me....

No sorry don't have it and doubt my dealer would give it given they are not exactly upfront and straight with anything. My advice is to push hard but be polite and don't accept that "there is no TPI or whatever under your VIN" and "there is no fault code", they need to contact VW Australia.
