Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Glovebox Removal

A frog got into my air con !!http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...cons/icon9.png
I need to access aircon to find it.
I think I need to get the glovebox out first, have found most of the screws but still wont come out.
Does anyone know if there is trick to remove glovebox or hidden screw

Do you just need to remove the fan and motor assembly?? Hard to think that any animal or debris has made it past here.

If so (going off my Mk6 Golf but im sure the Polo would be somewhat similar) you can access it via the passenger footwell. Remove the felt lining (held in with 2 plastic screw things) and then you can see the fan motor.

Then you just rotate/twist the fan motor about 30 degrees to unlock it from its clips and then pull it out.

Should be about 7 or 8 screws, 3 along the top with glove box open & 1 or 2 in the back of the open glove box, 2 or 3 underneath the glovebox and also the pin/retainer behind the side dash trim.

I can't help you but you've reminded me of the time a rainbow lorikeet flew in through the open window while my (then) girlfriend was driving.

It hit her straight in the head (bullseye!!!) and landed at my feet in the passenger side footwell. I thought it was dead for sure as we were doing about 70km/h. Nope! While I sat there laughing my tits off, it dusted itself off, hopped around a bit and somehow made it's way up under the dash, half of which we had to pull apart to extricate the stricken birdie. Once out it flew off as if nothing had happened.
