They look good... it only looks that light as the sun is shining straight onto them. Eddie's look darker but I think that's due to the time and angle he took the photos.

Yep pink brakes
Got a write up on how to convert them to LEDs?
Pretty sure I received lhd versions as the chrome tray in the stock lights fog light is in the other side. All I did was remove the fog light and swapped it over to the reverse and vice versa. No error codes so far so must have worked.
Just wrapped my reflectors body colour too as the red stood out too much.
At this stage I've just installed the LED's, have a bulb out warning but going to Vagcom it or resistor it.. Ill let ya know.
Did you recieve bulb panels too with your new tails? I didn't (due to LHD version) so I just had to swap my OEM panels with the ebay tails.
Hang on, so you've taken out the fog light (with little holder) and moved it where the reverse was? I'm going to need photos to see what you've done. If I read correctly, seems like you'll be reversing with the fog bulb turned on and reverse light on when rear fog is switched on? Unless you re-wire of course...
Yeah, gotta change those reflectors, I painted mine too.
Yeah pulled out the fog light and connector and placed them into the reverse light on my standard backing plates and put the reverse globe into the fog side. Reverse is still reverse and fog is still fog just the fog light is now a regular globe but I don't use my rear fog light anyway. My reverse light is now super bright though haha

So I decided to copy BLN's idea, to utilize two reverse lights when need be, I took out the fog light bulb adaptor to put in place a standard bulb. Whenever I need more reversing light, I'll just lift the control knob to rear fog. No errors.
Also put load resistors into the rear circuit for the LED brake lights, but awaiting shipment from VLEDS for 50w units, both 3 and 6 ohm (for LED indicators also). Now, to find a suitable area to mount that is close range to the harness...
I will keep you posted! If anyone wants details of where this goes let me know and I'll forward you images.
Would these work to replace the standard brake light globes? The "Pink" is kind of shamefull haha
Also going to try to tint the rear spoiler brake light as it just looks out of place now.
I bought CREE's because most LED's are less visible than standard bulbs. The CREE's are seriously 3x the light output than standard bulbs!
Keep me posted how you go, I was also going to tint the centre light! I really wanted to replace it but that requires wing off job So tinting it is!
Also, VLEDS for resistors if you decide to go down that path. I bought them with metal casing covers so it won't melt anything.
So to everyone following this thread; if you buy these black tails, it doesn't have a red shield over the brake section which means you've got to add a red bulb. Standard red coated bulbs turn out pinkish, so the easiest solution is to go with an LED (BA15s).
LED's will give you issues, such as the light slightly pulsating (error-checking) and error out on dash (can code this out though), but won't solve error checking (pulsating). If you decide to add resistors, you'll need a 6ohm 50watt load resistor (what I've discovered anyway) (PM me if you'd like to do indicators too) on each rear harness side. I've got pictures later... You need to attach this via the second and third wires (looking top down) which is for the brake light circuit.

All the best everyone!

Going LED's will always cause an error. BA15s is the bulb fitment type.. I think there is another name for it, 1156? I'm at work so cannot do much research LOL
I'm about to be a real bitch here (sorry guys!!) but I personally think they look, well....... Horrible Sorry!!!!!!
The thing I like about the Golf R tails is that they look great with lights off and lights on, the little LEDs light up just nice and are finished off behind the tinted lens nicely too. Clear lenses on tail lights just don't work in my opinion Like I said, I'm sort if I cause offense but when I'm designing my stuff, white/clear at front, red at rear. Clear on the rear, not if I'm designing it!
