Interesting. The car will be taken to Exoticars for a service as my Golf has been there since new, so I will see what they recommend. Bit weary of the grease monkeys at VW. Still hearing a lot of "good will" repairs even though the car is out of warranty, so might be worth trying my luck.| 2016 VW Golf R 7 | DSG | Pure White | Leather | Sunroof | Driver Assist | JB4 |

Our polo is just under three years old , I was told that it had a 5yr warranty on the drive train and engine. There is a technical bulletin/product information for the replacement of the oil injectors including the early CTH engine. Jamie the head VW tec knows about it. At Wakelings, Jill is the service receptionist and very helpful too.Originally posted by CraigR View PostInteresting. Unfortunately this one was sold on 11/2010 so is exactly a year out of warranty. I might give it a shot though.| 2016 VW Golf R 7 | DSG | Pure White | Leather | Sunroof | Driver Assist | JB4 |

A lot of people on here will be using that, including my fiances polo that still consumes oil.| 2016 VW Golf R 7 | DSG | Pure White | Leather | Sunroof | Driver Assist | JB4 |

Did it help in reducing the consumption or did it have no affect?Originally posted by CraigR View PostA lot of people on here will be using that, including my fiances polo that still consumes oil.
I have been looking into both the 5w30 and 5w40 oil for my next service but can't decide which

Well I've just done an oil change approx 500kms ago and I just topped up 300ml - if that answers your question...| 2016 VW Golf R 7 | DSG | Pure White | Leather | Sunroof | Driver Assist | JB4 |

So about 300 miles then?Originally posted by CraigR View PostWell I've just done an oil change approx 500kms ago and I just topped up 300ml - if that answers your question...
Could be due to a fresh oil change as they can sometimes use a bit more oil after a service. Hopefully it will improve.

MY15 Polo GTI - had no issue with oil consumption for the first 15000kms, checked before the first service and oil was at the full line on the dipstick on both hot and cold engine.
Just had a 30000km service at Rockdale VW.
Check oil light came on just before service and saw that I had almost no oil, well below the minimum line on the dipstick on both hot and cold engine. Very bizzare.
Anyway VW Rockdale told me that I should expect this car to burn 500ml of oil per 1000km which is 7.5l of oil before its next service. Considering this car only has 5l of oil I find that absolutely ridiculous, although they offered a free top up everytime my engine runs out of oil. What a joke

I would ask if an oil consumption test could be done just to make sure.Originally posted by EJ91 View PostMY15 Polo GTI - had no issue with oil consumption for the first 15000kms, checked before the first service and oil was at the full line on the dipstick on both hot and cold engine.

Is the car still under warranty?

Yeah they said they would conduct an oil cibsumption test so I have to go back in 1000km. Car is still under warranty at this point but once warranty runs out I have a feeling these engines will be seizing and heading for the scrap yard if they are maintained every 15k kms, unless you can afford to service them every 5000ks.
Am I right to think a class action law suit would be possible here ?

Definitely worth checking at least once a month on a level surface just to make sure the new parts are doing their job. I have done just under 1500 miles (2414km) and the dip stick has the slightist movement at the top.Originally posted by ScotRok View PostI really must check the oil level on our GTI, nearly 3000k since it was in for new oil squirters and no oil light yet.

I did check it at about 1500k and had dropped a mill or two.previously the light would have been on by then.Originally posted by Xeon5 View PostDefinitely worth checking at least once a month on a level surface just to make sure the new parts are doing their job.
