Yesterday, my dealer wanted a changeover price of $29,000
Today, they are willing to drop to a changeover price of $28,000 ... maybe just below that in the $27,500 range?
Point is they claim they cannot offer me more than $34,000 for my MY16 140TDI Highline Sedan (with R & Lux packs) despite the evidence to the contrary from the RedBook valuation certificate. They are being cautious because they claim they would not be able to sell it for much themselves. Furthermore, the 206TSI is built in small numbers and cannot be discounted to any great extent given it is new and there is strong demand for it.
I'd be comfortable with a changeover of $24,000 which I could stretch to $25,000 but absolutely no more.
Business is business and I appreciate they need to make a profit ... just as it's my prerogative to shop elsewhere.

I think $24,000 is generous (on your account!). Keep shopping around! Don't forget to try regional dealers... they tend to sell more diesels and might give you more.

Done deal at a changeover price of $25,000. New toy arrives late January.
Note to dealers - never ever alienate long-term loyal customers.
