Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • On a completely different OEM topic, I forgot to mention I had pair of ATE Ceramic front pads fitted. The wheel dust is almost non existent compared to the factory ones.

OEM pair with 800k's on them going cheap!

They would say that! They aren't hard to fit (I did something similar for our Lexus), so you can ring around and see if someone will sell and ship cheaper to you... or try eBay! I bought our Lexus OEM roof racks from the US with eBay... bloody fantastic!

        Congrats on the 206!

Just want to point out that the pads are not for R36 Wagon so forum members wont refer the wrong parts in the future.
        ATE LD2764 is for B7 and B8
ATE LD7200 is for R36, I bought these a while ago and the Passat R36 Wagon on the stickers caught my eyes

Thanks for the info. Just snapped a pic of the box they returned my old ones in.
No idea why it said R36.
Well picked up as someone may order the wrong ones.
FYI - Volksmuller recommended and installed these to my previous car amd this one.
          Cheers!

          • Hi all,

I'm new to the forum, and interested in getting the 206TSI. I gotta say, this thread seems to have more information than anywhere else! I've been reading through, but I'm still a little confused/had a few questions, if anyone was willing to help out!

            1. Can you get a factory fitted towbar on the 206TSI? Looking at the spec guide, it doesn't provide any details, and it doesn't seem to be an option, but it sounds like a few people had a towbar installed?
            2. What is LC (launch control)?
            3. Does anyone know the capped price servicing costs? They don't exist on the VW website yet (I've sent them an email, but no reply so far).
            4. Are you able to adjust the ACC by +/- 1 kmph? Had a play on a quick test drive, but couldn't work it out (dealer didn't know either). I think I read somewhere you just need to use some different buttons.
            5. We have the previous generation Passat Alltrack, with sunroof, but it gets quite warm. Is this just as warm? Would you just add a tint or something to make it cooler?
            6. It sounds like you can't use the key fob to close the sunroof on the new model (http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ia-115072.html). Is that correct?
            7. Do you think a sub $60k price tag, with sunroof, metallic paint, towbar, and maybe an accessory or two is doable? I'm also able to get a corporate discount.

            Thanks so much!

                  I hope the following helps...

                  1. Check some of the earlier posts... some of the owners have had dealer fitted towers fitted.
                  2. It helps you launch the car to achieve the min 0-100 time. I don't know how to operate it... nor would I ever do it. She launches just fine in Sport mode.
                  3. No... but shop around. I've used NRMA Service centres before. All the same gear, same quality bout about 25% cheaper. Get quotes!
                  4. Yes. The set/resume buttons act as +-1km/hr when it's activated and set. The silver + & - buttons shift the bug in 10km/hr increments.
                  5. I tinted my sunroof. I was going to stuff insulation (Kingspan Aircell) in between the glass and the blind... but the tint is doing a great job of keeping the heat out. I believe this is a must if you're getting the glass roof.
                  6. I just tried it. The windows close... but the sunroof remains open. Looks like it's accurate!
                  7. Depends on how well you can negotiate. Could be possible for the sedan... probably not the wagon! Give it a shot though!

                  • Just to add...

for Launch Control - Yes, it does have it. You need to long press the traction control button to disable it completely, put your gear in to sports, left foot on brake, right foot pinning the accelerator to the floor, it will help you to keep the rev at around 4k mark, then release the brake once you are ready to take off!

For the convenience close feature, I am pretty sure you could programme it back using VCDS.

                    Cheers

Have you tried the Launch Control yet? I tried to see if I could activate it the other day and it just bogged down (just hesitated above idle so I knew it wasn't free revving). I wasn't intending on launching it, I just wanted to see if it worked on the 206's.

Just now went for a test drive in a 206 sedan with a tuning box and tested LC. It definitely has LC. And wow did it launch.
Important to have it in Sport.
HOLD the T/C button till you see the second message come up and then do the thing with the brake and accelerator.
