Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

No, I've never used VCP - sorry.
    I only have vcds.

I'm planning to meet up with Kamold on the coming Easter weekend - hoping to sort it out then

    • Finally got some good news to report - the final piece to the puzzle, the AFS_MDF data file, was successfully loaded, via ODIS, into the 4B module and the SLA (Skoda's version of DLA) functionality is now fully operational.

      No errors. wooOoot

I went for a quick test drive and its certainly doing the fancy masking with the auto high beams, as expected.

A BIG BIG thanks to Kamold and Magnus with their assistance, and patience in sourcing the parameter file.

        • Is there anyone on here from WA that's got the tools. I am not fond of buying knock-off cables and the real deal is expensive just for a single coding job.

          • Maybe you could sell it on after using it, or form a consortium of other guys in your same situation (only need it for a single use) and send it on to them once you've used it?

              • So I had a crack at this tonight after building up what I thought was enough knowledge to attempt.

2019 Tiguan Highline w/ R-Line + Sound and Vision pack. Correct headlight assembly for DLA.

Following these instructions: Activate Dynamic Light Assist (DLA) - from MY 2017 - AS.Coding

                Module 09 - Central Electrics
                Erweiterte_Fernlichtsteuerung
New value: AFS, FLA, Fernlicht (GLW,MDF)
The other two requirements were already set to present due to HBA already being active.

A5 Front Sensors Driver Assistance System
                New value: 000307060000010100022346C150A90098000E300040

                4B Multifunction Module
                New value: 000000050900084E07004F010A000000000000000000000000 0000000000

I then hopped out the car, cleared the headlight fault, ran basic settings, acknowledged the basic settings & cleared the headlight fault again. It cleared and all seemed good.

Jumped back in the car, saw that Dynamic Light Assist was ticked in the head unit. Pushed the high beam stalk forward and received "Light assist error"

I tried to follow the next steps in the guide if you received a light assist error. I completed the coding but was unable clear the headlight fault and run basic settings. OBD Eleven kept saying that there were minor errors preventing it from running.

                Any help is appreciated.

                • I am not sure it will work without a proper parameter set for the 4B multifunction module....this has been my experience with both Passat B8 and Superb 3 DLA.

By parameter set you mean the basic set of available functions programmed into the module from the factory? Sorry, newbie here.

                      • i also had the "Light Assist" fault after i retrofitted the SLA (DLA for Skoda).
once the correct 4B parameter files was uploaded (via ODIS), thanks to @Kamold, it was all good.

there r 3 types of parameter files for 4B:-
                        1. Level Control Only
                        2. AFS
                        3. AFS with MDF

mine had the "AFS" parameter file from factory.
we uploaded "AFS_with_MDF", and all was good after.

on some cars, VCP can do it.

                          • This is probably spanning a bit beyond my capability. I don't think OBD Eleven is capable of uploading a parameter set, nor do I know how to do it.

Hole46 - did you need to upload the parameter set dArK5HaD0w and kamold are referring to?

No, no parameters uploaded, just used the instructions about five times with the usual “Light assist “ & AFS errors. Can be frustrating.
