I'll look to get some "before" and "after" clips, however I'll probably have to borrow someone elses unmodified Tig for a true "before" as mine already has a 3" DP fitted.

The new exhaust is not really a performance upgrade - mainly for making the right noise out the back. Keen to see if I can get some DSG farts happening on gear changes.

Also the FMIC won't give any real world performance for me either as I don't drive that hard (car doesn't go on the track). All I'm hoping is to keep the temps down when driving up hills particulalry on hot days so it's a bit nicer on the engine.

Great.. I am really interested about cat back exhaust.. Are these still in beta stage or can I get one. Also are these quad exhaust type?

Love to hear the sound it will make... I just want to hear sound after instal , already know how bad it in stock

You'll have to talk to Simon at Viezu about the cat-back exhaust - these are pre-launch but production models (final test fits were done on another Tig the other week).

I believe they want to launch the whole range together - CAI, DP, CBE, FMIC. I know the facelift Tig they had in recently has different intercooler piping so this has thrown the spanner in the works a bit (i.e. intercooler off the Mk6 GTI doesn't fit). Just a word of warning if you're looking at intercoolers.

The exhausts will be twin exit type (similar to current Tig exhaust) as quad exit would involve making/fitting a whole new rear diffuser/bumper. This would make the whole thing a lot more expensive if you were to do it properly so at this stage it's twin exit only.

I have seen a couple of examples of quad exit and they do look good. I think some people cut the rear diffuser with a hacksaw for the second set of tips, but I'm not that keen on going down this path. The only other option that I am aware of is an ABT kit.

As requested here's a "before" video of the stock exhaust with 3" DP.

I'll hopefully get an "after" video up by next weekend.

Though it's quite quiet at highway/cruising speeds.

I'll get a clip up on the weekend.

Well that is a bit annoying, i thought for sure the GTI fmic should fit given it is the same 2.0TSI.
Keen to hear the exhaust clip!

OK here's the audio clip. Probably doesn't give a true indication how loud this is - system is non-resonated.

This was a cool morning and the first 60 seconds the auto-choke is active. After that it quietens down... and then a couple of revs with a pop.

Here's a photo from under the rear of the car.

You can drive it quietly around town - drive it in "D" and keep the revs under 2,500rpm and it's relatively docile.

However give it a boot load and it is pretty loud.

I have done about 1,000km of highway driving and there is no drone in the exhaust. You can certainly hear the exhaust note while cruising but it isn't intrusive. There is a fair amount of noise when overtaking and going up hills it is certainly louder than stock.

I'm still waiting for it to soot up completely (1,500-2,000km) and after that it should be pretty much how it's going to be.

...though still considering getting a resonator fitted as I do use the car for business.

Just a word of caution on installing any old CAI. The ECU is pretty sensitive with air flows and aftermarket CAI's can upset them (speaking from recent experience). I changed my CAI recently from one design to another this and caused all sorts of issues. Ended up reverting back to the stock intake and this fixed things.

Oh so you are now running without the middle resonator? I thought without it would make a nasty drone.. Also any feeling of extra power with the new exhaust .. I guess improved sound will automatically add 10Kw

Yes exactly - middle resonator is gone completely (must have evaporated while I was driving). Just a pipe with a couple of bends from the cat to the muffler at the back.

No drone at cruising speeds. HM Headers are making these for Viezu Australia under the VAR Design name. They are a major exhaust manufacturer and manufacture exhausts for HSV, Walkinshaw, Elfin as well as aftermarket systems for a lot of other cars. So they know a bit about making exhausts.

I wasn't expecting any increase in power - just sounds like it goes faster now

Exhaust temps are fine but must have been the rough roads
