Well couldn't resist so took a quick trip into the office before lunch. This afternoon fitted up the new S3 intercooler....
Some minor challenges so I used the "phone a friend" lifeline. Turns out Ramee and I took slightly different approaches to removing the headlights and front bar plus hoses are different between 1st gen and second gen Tigs....
Managed to get 90% done in the afternoon and final bit of reassembly after tea. Off to do a test drive...

Well turned out I was the only one flying the Tig flag.... but chatted to quite a few closet Tig ownersOriginally posted by Wynnston View PostEh, I seem to be the only Tig in WA that goes to the WA outings, everyone seems to be welcoming, I'm sure you'll get a similar reception.
Some don't even know that the Tig shares a lot of hardware with their Golfs and are quite surprised when you tell them.
I posted a few photos from the day here: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ml#post1039154
Was so busy taking photos of everyone elses cars I forgot to get a good shot of my own car

Hopefully there's one or 2 other "off-roaders" to park with.

Haha! Is it a boy's saloon or girl's saloon ?Originally posted by tigger73 View PostTig is booked into the beauty salon today. Dropped off this morning at Elite Finish for a full treatment on the exterior and will pick up later this afternoon.
Just hoping I can dodge the weather and have it looking it's best for tomorrow.

Just for completeness I'll post this here too.
Since the bird flew through my lower grille I've had a couple of goes at the front grille.
First attempt I pulled off my front bumper and ran wire mesh through the upper and lower grille to stop any insects making a mess of the intercooler and a/c condenser.

I left the broken lower grille in and just ran the wire mesh over the top of the busted section. Worked OK but you could still see the broken part if you looked closely.

So I decided to install some aluminium mesh into my grille instead of the "old" fly screen. Hopefully this will provide better air flow and still keep out the larger bugs.
Added some plasti-dip and re-installed to give the final result:

Definitely looks great ! I don't know what is she talking about.Originally posted by tigger73 View PostUnfortunately the missus doesn't like it. "Where's the chrome? This is the bit that I like."
Though personally I like the look as before there was too much chrome in the one place - and nothing else on the car anywhere
I think it looks a bit more aggressive and a little less fussy.
