Hi All. New player on the scene - have met Simon (Aussie Director) and seems very knowledgeable and accomodating. He has taken read files on my Tig, and is coming back to me with custom tune. Only disadvantage to others seems to be lack of tune "personalised" to each vehicle. His pricing is very reasonable, and seems to be growing the business here in leaps and bounds - lookout for a dealer near you soon! Will let you know my impressions once if have the tune done.

How many kms did you guys wait before doing the ECU upgrade ?

Just got a 155 TSI and it feels sluggish off the line. Wonder if it'll be a big difference on the 155.

Not yet. Only 78kms.

It doesn't seem to really make much difference when you do it. I did it at 3000kms, some wait until the 1000k check up, others do it on delivery. I just wanted to let everything bed in well and make sure I had no warranty issues before I did it but depends on your will power lol.

Just got a 155 TSI and it feels sluggish off the line. Wonder if it'll be a big difference on the 155.

KW wise 155 (or 132) goes to 190, but the big difference is in the torque, 280 goes to 400 and its hard not to notice the additional 120NM ......

This depends on if they have to take out the ECU and do it on the bench or if they can leave it in the car (due to the ECU's firewall which I believe is now 64 bit). Unfortunately mine had to be taken out, however it didn't take too long I don't think, most of a morning.

I was looking at APR ones but they cost 200 AUD more than K&N. With shipping from America, it's 470ish for the APR. If i buy from Australian APR dealers it's around 570 I believe.
Just wondering about the alternatives out there in the market. I know there is Neuspeed but I can't seem to be able to find a shop that ships/sells them.

APR are more expensive as they are fully enclosed and have a "ram" effect whereby it pulls air from the highest flow/coldest temperature area.

I emailed APR and Superchips. Both companies said that I could run the Carbonio intake without any problems with my Superchips tune.
My question is:
Would I get higher gains if I get a retune compared to just using stage 1 flash?

Some say the car is a ticking time bomb without a retune when you get a new intake because the A/F ratio goes nuts. But this shouldn't be the case with carbonio intake since it is in front of the MAF sensor.

Even though the Carbonio is the most expensive, it is by far the best, for these reasons:

1. It takes the cold air from the most direct point and where pressure is at its highest. Bit of RAM effect there ..... Other intakes take the air from somewhere else where it is hot and not at a decent pressure.

2. The Carbonio is made from real Carbonfibre. Least heat conductive of all the intakes on the market. Keep the air going in cooler than anybody else.

3. The Carbonio is made from real Carbonfibre. Looks really good in the engine bay ....

4. The highflow airfilter in the fully enclosed unit is in front of the MAF so no funny airflow readings .....

5. Makes a nice sound (others do as well I suppose)

6. Works with any tune.

Buy what you want, but guarantee you, whenever you compare your engine bay to anothers with a Carbonio, there will be more than a tinge of envy and buyers regret .....
