Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Does anybody have fuel consumption figures if somebody were to get the APR stage one and drive it gently.. you know, hypothetically?

The thing is, peak hour traffic had well & truly set in by the time i drove away from the workshop so not really put to the test as yet... Happy with the 15% off easter special though! $1440.75 all up with the 4 fuel programs (stock, valet, 95 & 98 octane) + security lock-out.
          Good stuff...

Roju, they are claiming a 5 -10% better consumption rate compared to stock if driven economically... Will compare what i normally get on my commute to work (7.8 - 8 ) & report back.

I reckon it is more effficient (according to my little dash computer) however I find it hard to be a feather foot as opposed to a lead foot now...

From my experienece Stage 1 retune will allow for a more efficient drive when driven for fuel economy.
When driven enjoyably i would uusally net around 9-10l/100km.

Stage 2 is not for people who desire good fuel feconomy figures

I agree with team v, best I've got 7.8 on a trip. I'm averaging high 9's around town and the 10 minute run down the highway to work and back each day. But considering I use the power when the urge or need takes me, I think that's exceptional economy.

Fuel economy wise, I still get the same consumption, heavy when I have a heavy foot (which is most of the time) and good otherwise.

Depending on an answer from H&R I'm waiting on, my H&R springs may be available soon. Looking at going eIther 1 or 2 levels up (touring cup kit or coilovers) or back to stock.

Wow!!! This is an amazing thread full of wealth of tig knowledge.
I do apologise intruding, but can I ask will the APR stage 1 void any warranties provided by VW?
I am planning to purchase a tig and currently trying to get an understanding on the capabilities of this beauty!
                          Cheers

this has been covered lots of times, but short answer is yes. But it would have to be a contributing factor to the problem i.e if your air conditioner stops working or your exhaust falls off then probably not, if you spit a rod out the side of your block, probably yes.

Hi guys. So I'm at stage I, and yes more is required.

Thanks shark very useful post. Ive ordered my cai.

I've noted a law of diminishing return in many things.... But fortunately the exponential passion outweighs it!

Anyhoos, I just can't seem to find anyone who's done a k04 apr on a tig. Admittedly I have a tiptronic doh so am wondering the result of a k04 on a tiptrponic tsi. Any adviceguys?
