I must miss something in this project. All of the dough doing up the Tiggy and it has a 170hp diesel!!!! Dont get me wrong, I've got nothing against diesel's but they arent the performance side of the available engines. All show and no go just doesnt seem right to me, but, each to their own I suppose.

      • Lol yes I realized that. I was hoping to see if there was a whole heap performance upgrades that perhaps I could draw some inspiration on since I too am driving a diesel. But nope! Hahaha even the intake is stock.

        • Dear V and others.

After quite a wait, the Tiggy finally received its APR Stage 1 Upgrade today. Holy Cow. I am 54 and have owned approximately 20 cars over my adult life. Most of them, except for when the kids were little, have had some form of modification. Some had far too much money spent on them for not a massive return.

57KWS FOR LESS THAN $1500. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING.

Without a doubt this is the best upgrade of any vehicle I have ever done. I have been buzzing around for a 'quiet' 200ks this evening. It goes like the clappers with the foot down, yet is smooth and still completely driveable.

The car looks completely stock, which other than the APR flash, it is. I am going to have some fun with this baby. Loved the Tiggy in total stock form, but this is truly awesome.

The crew at CVWC at Belconnen were fabulous. This was their first flash of the new system and they put their heads down and bum up and were VERY thorough.

Thank you for all of your research and encouragement.

          Cheers

            • Mutare23, is your Tiggy a manual? Seems like people with the manual get more out of the tuned engine.

Team V, how much time did you 'spend' on Stg1 before going Stg2?

                About 6 months i believe.
Ths tune wiht a DSG would be awesome, first gear is too short to use effectively with all that power.

Mine is a DSG and you are right. First seems to be very short indeed, but at the end of the day thats how it comes so, so be it. The difference is quite obvious from the get go and makes driving even more enjoyable.

I havent tried out launch control yet and reckon I wont do it too often.

Will be interesting to see how the fuel economy goes. Due for a drive to Melbourne soon and will be interested to see how the fuel economy goes. Bit hard to make an assessment yet as I have had trouble keeping the smile off my face and my foot off the firewall

                  Cheers

                    • 700ks to Melbourne. Set the cruise at 119 for 90% of the trip. Fuel 8.0l per 100 kph. No complaints from this old fella

Wow, that is pretty good fuel economy.
Is your's the 7 Speed DSG?

Mine takes a bit of a hit over 110.

                        • Does bringing ur car for service at another VW service centre or private service centre void the warranty? My 30,000 is due soon too.

Just wondering if theres a better engine oil or any other stuff that I should put other than the 'standard' oils they use? Or is their engine oil etc pretty good stuff already?

                          Mine's a diesel.

                            V

                            DSG.

Noticed that it improved about four points over the last 60k or so into Melbourne when speed limit drops to 100k (109kph on the GPS, indicated 114kph) and then the run around the Western Ring road, which for a very welcome change, flowed pretty well.

                            Cheers

                            • From Hume Hwy on the Western Ring Rd, watch out for the 3-4 speed cameras behind overhead bridges and signboards mate!! )) APR doesn't fund those speeding tickets.

Thanks Haywire. GPS bangs away like a a set of African bongo drums along that stretch of road. Thanks for the info though
