Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Sorry but I think you're grizzling about nothing, particularly if they WILL fit with just 1/3 of the back seat forward in its track. To me it's a bit like complaining you're 7 feet tall and can't fit behind the steering wheel without moving the seat back as far as it will go !!

Personally I think the Tig's got heaps of boot space and the adjustable and foldable rear seats and front passenger seat make it an extremely versatile gear carrier for it's size.

Guess it's "horses for courses" and if you need a bigger car buy a bigger car.

I should have asked you for the extra 30 grand for the Toureg

Whose grizzling, I can't show people who are going to make a decision on a vehicle that a full size set of clubs won't fit in the boot?

So if I want to take a couple of friends for a game of golf and to fit in three or more sets of clubs and I have to slide the seat forward then what should I do with their legs? Put them in the tiny boot with the clubs and trolleys?

How about you just don't say anything unless it's constructive to the thread instead of telling me to just buy a bigger car?

Alternatively, get the cargo barrier and stand the club bags on a 45-degree angle.

Or just take 2 cars, 2 people per car with 2 bags is easily done.

I'll qualify myself first - I don't have my Tig yet, only had the test drive.
But when I did test drive it I put the driver's seat in the position I would have it in and then slid the back seat forward and sat in it.
I'm 184cm tall and the rear leg room was still fine for me. Maybe I have a very forward driving position...

if this scenario is important, maybe you should look more carefully at vehicle size (ie you're not helping your argument here). Keep the thread positive.

For the 3 people scenario - trolleys might be an issue - other solutions already posted above for that. However trolleys aside, you might fit 3 people and their clubs in with the larger side of the back seat slide forward. That gives you 3 people including one passenger in the back and space for 3 bags? Worth looking at anyway.

why not just okky strap them to the roof?

My point is one bag doesn't fit without changing the boot config

I'm being possitive by showing a true indication
of what a real bag looks like in the boot and not
some junior size as shown in the start of the thread

That bag is a real full size bag .... special light weight for carrying ... unlike some of these other bags that you can only get around 18 holes on a trolley or in the back of a golf cart.

I carry a full set of clubs with some extra's around in it very comfortably. Maybe get a bag like that to solve your problems .....

but I agree the boot is way to small fora car that size. We have a RAV4 Mk2 that is smaller in all aspects, except for the boot which is double the size..... go figure

<line edited out by mod - off-topic> Take two mates with you, put the 2/3 side of the seat right down, chuck in all the clubs and trundlers you need, you drive, 1 mate in the front, the other in the back 1/3 seat !! All fits as far as I can see. In fact I recon you could take 3 mates and do the same except just put down 1/3 of the back seat !! <line edited out by mod - off-topic> You have a happy day at the golf course won't you !!

                    Cheers

OK guys, how about we lay this one to rest. Enough of the jibes at one another about "real" sets of golf clubs, "if you can find that many mates", and the like. It's not necessary and isn't constructive.

Moral of the story is that future buyers of Tiguans, if boot space is important to you, especially those of you that are avid golfers, then you'd be doing yourself a favour by making 100% sure that the boot will meet your requirements before buying the vehicle. Thanks to Sharkie and marcsamus you can get an idea of how differing size sets of clubs fit in the boot so you can judge for yourself.

If you already own a Tig and have found the boot to be too small for your purposes, I'm afraid you're going to have to note that down on your "Lessons learned the hard way" list so you don't make the same mistake in the future, perhaps post a non-inflammatory pointer to prospective buyers on the exact situation that lead you to learning this hard lesson, and then move on. No amount of complaining about it is going to change the situation, and you're very unlikely to get a sympathetic ear from the majority of Tig owners that are perfectly content with the amount of boot space available to them.

If anyone has examples of common items that are difficult to carry in the boot that you think prospective owners would like to know about, or if you've figured out a clever way of better utilising the boot, then I'm sure the rest of the forum would appreciate your post.

Most prams are quite compact when folded. Its usually all the paraphernalia that has you searching for more boot space. Remember that you can put the seat/seats forward 6 inches for more space. Most vehicles can cope with the requirements of one child, it requires a bit more space for two. What you can't do with the Tiguan is fling in a stroller fully assembled. It may sound a bit brutal, but sometimes unplanned rapid departures with only one hand available are called for - you'll understand in a few months

Golf 6 wagon is a better alternative, if you don't need to be high up off the ground. They're also a lot cheaper, too.
