G-8VXWWTRHPN Tiguan boot space - VWWatercooled Australia

Announcement

Collapse

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Maybe you miss the attraction of compact SUVs as a kiddie carrier - high roof means less stooping, plus all the other attractions like visibility.
The small boot of the tiguan also makes it short overall, which makes it easy to park. I hire Golf wagons every year -they are quite long.

I know what you're saying. My partner and I were going through the same thing the other week. She's on the mini-SUV bandwagon too, unfortunately. Price and lack of boot space were what put us off.

From my experiance, mini-SUV drivers seem to drive and park wherever, and however they feel. I don't really want to be a part of that

My research so far suggests the Tig should be ok.

Golf Wagon is 107.2cm deep (to seats), 129.5cm/100.5cm wide, and 46.8cm to cover / 83.2cm to roof.
        505 Litres

Tig (seats right back I guess) is 93.6cm deep, 105.3cm/100.8cm wide, and 60.7cm to cover / 102.5cm to roof.
395 Litres [more if you move the seats forward - at least I hope understand this correctly]

Depth - 107 vs 93 - So depth is 15.5cm shallower to seats (which move 18cm anyway to be 111.6cm and longer if I read things correctly).
Width 100 vs 100 Same narrowest width. Wagon has more side space bear boot entry.
        Height - 46 vs 60 // 83 vs 102 - 14cm / 19.3cm better vertical clearance.

I am concerned that the baby capsule I have will not fit well or at best wont allow me to move the seats forward.

We also have a massive pram (also a easy to take MacClaren) which gets on the boot occasionally and folded its ~90 deep by 80 wide...so thats only just going to slip in lengthwide to the seats. But with the cover off the Tig can have this vertically which is something I need to explore more since that would save heaps of space on big trips if we need the monster stroller.

And the higher roof for better baby and storage access.

The child restraint anchor points are in the seat back, so you still have the ability move the seat forward.

Sure. But I want to verify if the 395 litres is with the seats back or forward, same with the measurements.

With the rear seats pushed forward 673L (at least in the US model).

Hmm... UK site says 505L, so it will be something between.

Also look in here if you already didn't.

I put the index of the posts where you can find many answers that you or anyone might have about the Tiguan. It is the index of the posts right to the oldest thread in the Tiguan section. Not all the threads are listed, only the most asked ones. There is some good info there on the back pages.

It's the last post in Tiguan Care & Info Sheet

We have a couple of kids and can fit a phil and teds 3 wheel pram in the back with a bit of room for all the other paraphernalia, but not heaps. At a squeeze I think we could fit the older childs stroller in as well. We generally find a fair bit of room in the foot wells below the child seats. i'm not too sure how it would go with one of the larger prams (ie bugaboo's).

My sister is looking to upgrade her Golf after having a baby, and found the Tiguan too small.
Is now deceiding between a Jetta, with its massive boot,or a Golf Wagon.

When my first daughter was born, 24 years ago we had Fiat 600D and the car had to be good enough for 3 of us.

... only for a short time though.
