Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Tiguan boot space

I still have about 2 months till my Tig arrives and it has been 4 months since i saw the car so can't really remember how big the boot is. From everything i had read its always listed as 1 of the Tig's downfalls.

Is there enough room for a set of golf clubs and a buggy(folded)? or a rifle case? i mean without having to drop the back seats.

The boot has a capacity of 395 litres, you would think a set of golf clubs would fit quite easily?

    This review ( http://www.caradvice.com.au/13090/20...n-first-steer/ ) says -

"The rear load space looks a little meagre but we were actually able to fill it with a substantial amount of luggage, although its shape des mean that you families with prams might find it challenging. However the rear seats do hold with a 60-40 split leaving a flat load space and also are able to be moved forward, like the front seats to increase the rear space."

Then looking at the comments below some guy has wrote

    "peterpan says:

Try placing a golf club in the boot space? Not only does a single club not fit but completely forget about a golf bag or the kids school bags"

has anyone in this forum tried to load a set up clubs in the boot?

maybe tried to fit a shotgun case in sideways?

Sawn off shotgun case should fit no problems, as will golf clubs for midgets.

Still time to change the order for a Touareg V6 TDI. Your stuff will fit in there OK.

Tested this afternoon to see ....

Golf bag will fit without any problems .... (std bag full of clubs etc) that peterpan above must be a fairy.... did he even test before speaking rubbish .....

And here is a Big Momma Driver as well on its own (was in the bag above as well)

So I presume a guncase will fit as well. I don't have any guns (anymore) to test with though ..... was forced to leave them all behind when I moved here ....

Thanks for clearing that up sharkie. Did you have to slide the rear passenger seats up for the clubs to fit?

I've heard the Tiguan boot is ridiculously small so I'd be really disappointed if I couldn't fit my dirt bike in there. Although my Barrett .50 cal with 1000 rounds and bipod fits with ease as I found out on a recent rabbit shoot

I also have a "LARGE" golf bag chocka-block full of clubs, balls and other cr*p. Had to slide the seats forward a tiny bit and it fits on the diagonal like Pullstarter has shown. The pull buggy sits on top of it and doesn't touch the cover when the tailgate is down.

I reckon a gun case will be easier to fit as it's shorter and smaller than my golf bag. I don't have a Heavy Barrel .460 Weatherby Magnum though...

No did not slide anything to fit. Just dropped it in as shown.

                        FWIW,
                        I carried 3adults and 2 (4 & 2) small children , ( 1 in a full child seat , 1 in a booster0 . all luggage with clothing to dress up for a wedding) incl w'end supply of nappies etc. 900k each way

2/3 seat almost fully forward , 1/3 fully back, some small odds & ends in tyre tray, some in under front LH seat and infront off 2/3 seat..

                        cover out.

because of all the scuttlebutt ,I was surprised but took a bit of organising but all comfortable

I'm guessing due to the smaller boot than other competitors some creativity is required when loading up the Tiguan.

Every now and then a seat may need to be dropped to make room but at the end of the day i still think the Tig is the best in its class

out of curiosity here... did you take a pram with you?
if so what was the brand??

my wife wants a tig as her next car but our main drawback is that it cant fit the two prams we currently have in it. - not both together of course... but individually.
so we would have to purchase another pram just to use in the tig.

haha - yeh Simon, that's cheating. I used to have a beautiful 1912 Remington .22 pump action that belonged to my great grandfather (unfortunately it was stolen ). I could hit rabbit at 500m with it - without a scope (well almost ).
