Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    You shouldn’t have any problems.

While I understand the reason for it, it’s counter-intuitive for the majority of roads in aus (100-110kmh but dual direction)

What’s this? Is there a limitation in the DLA?

      • It’s by design. The right hand high beam is disabled in auto mode, once you’re doing over 100kmh (speedo measured, not gps)

It’s meant to give you better light on motorways, where there is a barrier on the right, so no ‘need’ of extra vision. Yet you can still have the left side lit up, increasing vision.

Problem for me is it just looks jarring and makes the right side pitch black, as my eyes have adapted to the bright left side. Making the right side worse, than if I was on low beam all round.

Also there are stuff all motorways in SA, yet millions of 100-110kmh roads that are one lane in each direction.

Just use normal high beam then.

          • That reply isn’t really an answer to the question though, is it?

No it’s not, I would like to know how to do this too. Was frustrating on the weekend

Sorry, that was a bit flippant, but is it a legislative requirement in some countries?

Thanks for the explanation. I have an Allspace with DLA. Drove on the Hume Fwy last night and I didn’t notice. Will pay attention next time and flick from auto to manual high beam to see the difference.

                            • First thing avoid using app.

Get the history, compare what you changed and revert.
