Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Here are a few other examples of the matching colours:

Not the best photos, sorry, as it was dark.

One thing to note I have discovered with the custom colours, all 10 have to best set. If any of them have the RGB value set to 0, 0, 0 then it doesn't work.

Looks cool! So what exactly is the coding for all this? And changing it on the Pro also changes the AID now?

    • I think it's done in central electronics so changes both at same time

wheres the settings listed in the mib to get the colour menu up?

      • Here are the exact details for the changes using OBDeleven:

Control unit: 09 Central Electrics - Adaptions - Int. light, 2nd generation - Instrumententafelbeleuchtung mehrfarbig - Set to Active
Control unit: 09 Central Electrics - Adaptions - Interior light, light configuration - Ambient_Farbliste_HMI - Set to Active
Control unit: 09 Central Electrics - Adaptions - Ambientelicht Farbliste - Set your RGB Values for all 10 Colour options (Rotwert = Red, Gruenwert - Green, Blauwert = Blue)

Once you have applied the codings reset the Infotainment unit (hold power button down until system reboots) then go into Car - Settings - Background Lighting and you can switch from Brightness Setting to Colour Setting. Change the colour here changes it in the Discover Head Unit as well as the AID.
Current Ride: 2019 CUPRA Ateca in Energy Blue with Bucket Seats

        • Man the car is getting better and better! Bit annoying VW releases their cars "dumb"...

Btw I know others have done so, but thanks to all that have contributed to this thread! I will get around to updating the OP again soon.

Legend! It was bugging me that the AID and the MIB were not the same colour.

So it comes up in the main vehicle settings menu? I can’t seem to find it.

When you press the Car button and then the Settings button down the right hand corner of the radio you should have an option for Background Lighting. In there you should be able to switch between brightness and color options.

                • Great work NZ_GolfR. Any literature on the colour options for RGB for all the 10 sections. Once you have put colours in can you change it from the menu or must you go into programming again?

You can set the 10 options to any rgb values your heart desires. If you followed the steps those 10 options will be selectable from the Car menu. To make changes to the 10 options you have to change the rgb values in OBDEleven.

Use this link to get the rgb values you desire: HTML Color Picker

                        • Is it possible to code the side mirror lights to illuminate when using the 360* camera view at night or when reversing at night? Would make my life easier not to kerb the rims.

Do you have any favorites to share with us?
I Would like to keep the colors the same as the "original ones" like you first selected with OBD on the AID itself (GTI R/native blue etc.)

seems the 9.2 descover pro has a different menu system than the other one, so no changing of colour in the setup screens
