I'm heading into the dealers to get an oil top-up for the wife's Polo GTI - man that thing needs a constant top-up! I might also ask when they think the ETA on the car will be.

We have the same dealer. My salesperson didn't have a problem providing a NADCON screen shot.

I'd be very sus as to why they won't give you one. I suspect he's either promised the car you ordered to someone else for a better price, or just plans to put it on the showroom floor and sell it to the first guy that snaps it up for $5K more than your contracted price.

The delays create a supply and demand equation that the dealers didn't anticipate. I suspect a lot are cashing in by playing us for mugs. Letting us wear the delay, while they cash in. The only way to protect yourself is to get a printout of the order. Go back and demand it!

Dropped past the dealer this morning and was told that there was some form of contamination on the ship our cars were on. He told me that its probably some seeds or insects, but did not delay the cars too much.

He also told me that my car has been through customs and now sitting with Patricks - like you, I should be able to pick it up first week of April.

Didn't know how she gave birth in the front seat as I was driving and her seatbelt was still on!

Abby Macryannis. She has been quite open in providing a NADCON screen shot. It shows the order date. I suggest they don't want to provide you a screen shot as it will also show a customer number which can then be matched to a VIN. If they sold your car to someone else, or put in on their showroom floor, then it would show a date significantly after your contract date. This is what I suspect is why they won't give it to you.

I would tell them point blank that you suspect they have sold the vehicle you ordered to someone else, or have taken it for their own profitable advantage. There is no other explanation as to why you have ordered your car a month before me yet are not expecting it for two months after me. If they give you bull**** about the sunroof causing the delay then I'm sure there are other 162 R-Line owners on this forum that have already taken delivery of identically equipped vehicles that will provide you more ammo.

Also ask them to show you some order dates and delivery dates of their demonstrators. If they'd managed to get a similarly equipped demo in their showroom with an order date after your contract date it also shows them to be liars.

I wouldn't bother with the salesman any more. Go direct to the sales manager or the dealer principal and make a complaint. Tell them that unless they can provide you with conclusive proof that your vehicle was ordered promptly after you signed the contract, then you will take the matter to the department of fair trading. They are clearly taking advantage of you. Of course he's happy for you to cancel the order. That would be another vehicle worth more to him than he has contracted to sell to you.

It sucks big time as Patricks is only 5km away from my house. Knowing that the car is so close and you can see or touch it...

I'm sure the wait will be with it. Only another 4 months for you. Just think mine has been 9 and a bit!

It looks like mine has cleared customs as well - it now has the "delivered from" status in the tracking info

Nice - the sales manager also told me he could turn the car around in 2 days after it arriving at the dealership and we agreed I could have a look at the car before it gets detailed.
