I just noticed this Tiguan for sale on carsales... concerned how VW quality checks have not picked up how out of alignment the R-line badge on the door is! Surely the dealer would have noticed this also.
I saw a white one the other day at my dealership where the rear right door did not match up with the rear wheel arch - looked like the car had been in an accident and the two bits did not align.
Will be checking my car carefully when it comes...

Took delivery of my R-Line yesterday. The badges are all perfectly aligned. You would think they would have re aligned the badge before

Ordered: 2017 build date Tiguan 162 TSI Highline with DAP in Tungsten Silver and rear luggage tray. ETA: late April / Early May. I did not have to wait. I took delivery on 11 March 2017.
Wow. That's really damage to both the door skin and trim.
Ideally they could change bother the door skin and trim rather than simply fill and respiratory. Either way they should replace the trim.
What would the delay in getting parts on such a new car?

Would be surprised if the 140TDI has been over forecast. I was definitely considering it until I drove one. I'm sure there are many others who opted for the 162TSI instead.
Precisely my point gladbach. You and others who might have purchased the 140 didn't and opted for the 162. If that happened on a large enough scale then product planning goes out the window and back orders for the 162 build. So in the end its all your fault this is happening😊
Scirocco: Indium Grey, DSG, pana roof, Sat/Nav, Dynaudio, VWR springs and APR stage 1. Now sold
Arriving April 17 Audi S3 sedan, Panther black, S-tronic, PP2, pano, matrix lights, assistance pack, 40:20:40 seats, mirror pack, light inlays

Thank you for the explanation, it certainly makes sense.
What I don't get is that we ordered the same vehicle on the same day and mine is coming 3 months earlier. I don't quite believe that there were enough orders on that one day to contribute to this. How many R-Lines in this configuration would be delivered in 3 months, more than 200?
Or am I wrong to assume that the cars are built in the order that orders are placed? If so, how is the build order determined?
Just curious about the process, if the situation was reversed I wouldn't be happy!
Don,t have the answers to all you points but did read a fortnight or so ago that VW was holding orders for over 1100 highline Tiguans. Not sure if these were highlines with or without the r pack. If I can find the article I'll post.

For those of you in NSW anxiously awaiting your car from the Don Juan the good news is it is on its way. For those in Vic waiting cars.....they are here. Here is the Don Juan leaving Melbourne and heading to Port Kembla a couple of hours ago.

Not surprisingly a lot of cars get damaged during the shipping process. Think about it, these cars are secured very close to each other on board a floating car park. Then add a combination of rough seas and tight schedules where stevedores are expected to load and unload these cars means that there will be minor damage to these cars. This one probably got damaged in the process and had a crappy repair job done to it here. I am sure VW would let that pass quality control...
