I have a couple of questions which the dealers couldn't answer.
    1) is the sunroof cloth black to match the dark interior of the rline?
    2) can you use apple car play maps on main unit whilst using car gps in dash?
    3) i have gone through about 40 pages of the thread and have seen prices vary from (55k drive away to 60k drive away) is 55k really possible? I have managed to get a dealer down to 58k but that is about it wont go any lower.

    Thanks for your help
    1) It is, at least on the overseas models. I haven't seen any R-Lines with sunroofs in Australia yet.
    2) Theoretically yes. You can't put Apple maps on the AID, but you can select the car navigation map on the AID at any time, even if you don't have a route selected. So you should be able to have Apple pams on the main unit with a route selected, and just have the map show on the AID, but obviously no navigation, unless you were to program a route in as well.
    3) I got just under $59k for exactly what you're ordering, but I ordered back in September when a lot of dealers were not budging at all on price. $58k sounds decent, anything below that would be a bargain. I've seen lower prices, but only when people haven't optioned the sunroof.

My R-Line has a sunroof. The cloth is dark

Maybe this works differently with CarPlay than it does with Android Auto but with Android Auto it doesn't behave like this. When using Google Maps navigation the in-car GPS does NOT work in AID. Instead you get a line of text that says it is unavailable while phone navigation is activated.

I agree, $58K seems an awesome price for R-Line/DAP/Sunroof. I paid $62K (140TDI + R-Line + DAP + Sunroof) but that was because there was the exact one I wanted available in the yard and I didn't have to wait at all - that benefit seems to have come with a $3k price premium as I could've gotten it for $59.5K from a couple of other dealers but would've had to wait until April/May 2017.

The lights fitted to the Highline are LEDs but not matrix. They operate just like any high/low beam lights would. The improvement is in their brightness and the colour temperature of the light. They turn night into day. They also have a very good auto dipping function. So while they don't dip individual LEDs like the matrix lights do, they still do a very good job of dipping for oncoming cars or when catching up to cars traveling in the same direction in front of you, by detecting the head or tail lights respectively.
Thanks for the replies. That is very useful information. Am crossing my fingers that the 2018 version might have the matrix LED solution.

I managed to get good pricing with fleet discount though - 162tsi, rline, dap, sunroof, metallic paint and an accessory for $56850da.

That is great! I signed on the dotted line yesterday. Got the price down to $56k with 162tsi, rline, dap, sunroof, luggage protector, tinted windows, first free year of service & Euro plates! I am quite happy. They said April/May delivery.

                              • I've had Opticoat on my current car for 18 months. The first 3-6 months were great and then it slowly went back to "normal". I had a decontamination done 5-6 months ago which brought it back but the beading only lasted for a month or so.

I'm not sure how it would have compared to not doing the coating, however it's definitely not a magic bullet. Though there is a new version of opticoat out now - Opticoat Pro+. Probably because the previous version of Opticoat wasn't all it was cracked up to be. There's a few people who've had similar experience to myself. In reality you only find out how good/bad a treatment is after a year or so.

Would I do it again? Probably yes. I think some paint protection is certainly better than nothing. Do I think it's worth the $ that some detailers charge? Probably not. I do think these products are getting better, but I still don't think they're perfect.

My car gets driven 35-40,000km a year and gets washed weekly so it does get a harder life than most. It's definitely not a "show" car that stay parked in a garage under a sheet and then only comes out when it's fine and maybe gets washed once every 2 or 3 months.

Anyway hopefully you find this info useful. Some of the detailers in the Eastern states charge over $1k for paint protection but they do spend a day preparing the car and another day applying the protection treatment. Though if it's a daily driver I think this sort of investment is a bit of an overkill. If you have a supercar that gets driven monthly then sure it's worth the investment.
