Insurance companies change their policies and re-rate vehicles as consequences change, so we need to keep a close watch on their prices and be prepared to jump ship when it happens
We check a few other Insurance companies, all where around the $1000-1200 mark.
If we didn't elect the windscreen replacement or repair , the quote was $677 with Apia.
We also have another policy for house and content which makes it cheaper too.

Yeah. Also seeing around that. Have all my stuff with NRMA and comes to around $850.. might just up the excess to lower it. Never gonna use insurance for any minor stuff

            • why is it that giving them my unit number in an apartment actually increase the premium?

Can i just give the street number of my apartment?

increasing premium just cause of unit number is stupid i think as the car is parked on the same street name and number plus in a fully enclosed garage anyway?

No worries chocolate_bear, $850. Thought if it's a small damage I'll just pay to fix anyway.

                • So the sales person got back to me today sending me an update on the vehicle. It indeed has been built and a VIN has been provided.

So with this information I can assume that the sales manager has no idea what is going on and providing customers with incorrect information.

I'll still be letting VWA know about this after receiving the car.

                  • Went yesterday and .....

                    Came home empty handed ...

Accounts dept were closrf so he cant confirm if the funds has cleared or not.

So now im still waiting to see if i can takr delivery afternoon tomorrow (past their normal delivery time)

Whats worse is that insurance has started on the new tiguan while my current trade in is no longer covered.

Pretty high risk on my end ...

Sigh ... Wasted time and fuel to travel down there for nothibg. Also kind of ruined my plan for this Saturday

Maaaaaate. Yesterday was a public holiday. What did you expect?

Just keep your trade in the garage. Or take out a new policy and get a refund of the difference when you trade car in. Depending ofcourse on whether this old car that's getting traded is worth the effort. $20k car or is it a $3k car?

Time and fuel gets wasted every time I go for a drive so don't worry about it.

May way off but I think you can get a cover note for your old car valid from most insurers for 14 or 28 days, having time to make payment for the policy until cover note expires. This will essentially insure your old car at least for a while without being out of pocket?

                          • Ordered a 162tsi today, with Rline and Dap for $60 from Doncaster Vw, now after reading a little here I feel a little ripped off. Can anyone recommend a better dealer or a way forward from here, I can still make use of the cooling off period.
