Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

IMHO, the new Tig only looks good with the R Line package, otherwise why would anyone upgrade across all the engines and lines?

With this decision, they risk losing new sales in the poverty lines by forcing people to the highline.

There's nothing wrong with the existing model's poverty lines especially since they're cheap and can be optioned with the R Line package!

    • Well in Germany you can option both the mid-range Comfortline and top of the range Highline with the R-line pack. Actually they get 2 x R-line kits - one is the exterior kit only and the other is exterior and interior upgrade.

We'll have to wait until the full pricing/options is released, however it's a bit of a shame that you can only get the R-line body kit with a fully loaded Tiguan here.

      • Weird things happen when I reply to threads on this forum via my phone (see blank post above).

Anyway, they're sending out "register your interest" emails as we speak. The VWA website has even been updated to include the same link you receive via email. No product page yet.

I'm happy for them to call me, but I am only interested in a fully optioned 162 R-Line. It's as close as I'll ever get to an SQ5

Same but I need it under $55k so there's some room for a stage 1 or stage 2 upgrade

The budget performance option will still be the 132TSI with stage 2. Expect a 250kW AWD Tig for around $40k

I'll have to go back through this thread and read all your posts tigger to see what options are available on the 132TSI. I can live without the sunroof and DAP (neither on my GTI although a sunroof would be nice), but I do like a little bit of luxury. I'm also a bit superficial and like to look good when driving

The sub $40k price is attractive nonetheless

              • this link says that under the Driver Assistance package the heads-up display will be available.

"Various option packages have been confirmed, including the R-Line as mentioned, as well as the Luxury Package adding a sunroof among other things, and Driver Assistance package adding adaptive cruise control and head-up display."

Also, I am also only interested in a 162TSI R-Line as I want the extras this time and not just the best bang for your buck model .... Expect to see mine at Stg 2 (~220kw) within 6 months of landing at my door

EDIT: The pricing has to be on the mark though as I can get special corporate pricing on a Q5 which includes free servicing etc which makes the 2.0TFSI Q5 at just over $60K drive-away

                  Who posted up that link????

I think there's a fair bit of mis-information in that article that has been lifted from the European sites which is not accurate for what we're going to get here.

For example the Comfortline (entry level) models will be FWD whereas article says that all are AWD. Also it says that the R-line will be available as an option across the range which is not correct as it will only be available as an option on the Highline here.

So given that I'd be highly suspicious of any other claims made in this article including availability of head-up display.

                  • Well, I suppose on the 19th (?) we will have more information from VWA .....

Thats said, now that the Coalition have been returned to government, the proposed lifting of import restrictions on privately imported new vehicles will probably still go ahead.

As I may have mentioned elsewhere, I will be setting up a business (in an agency arrangement) to assist people bring in cars of their choice and specs from overseas under these rules .....

A manual 162TSI with all the options you can think of delivered to you in Oz, anyone? Or even the 176kw BiTDI?

                        • Post script to expected delivery date for the Highline Tiggys: when I queried my dealer today re 1st quarter 2017 delivery, he showed me the accepted build order for my white Highline 140TDI with DAP in the system, handover to production on 23/7/16, and scheduled to arrive in Australia at the importer on 19 October 16 (and delivery ?2-3 weeks later). So I'm sticking with it 😄

                          • Yes they are building 140TDIs but you can't even spec a build on a 162TSI... so these aren't even in the production queue yet.
