    Add $2.5k for a 110TSI Trendline DSG - $34.5k + on roads

    The 132TSI Comfortline - $41.5k + on roads

    Add $1.5k for the 110TDI Comfortline - $43k + on roads

The Highline models will both be arriving later - 140TDI in Oct/Nov and 162TSI in early 2017 (Jan/Feb).

The 140TDI is the range topper at $50k + on roads and 162TSI is $1.5k cheaper at $48.5k + on roads.

If you load up the 140TDI with R-line, DAP and sunroof you'll be heading north of $60k. Definitely targeting the lower end premium car buyers.

And I think with the size/pricing increase it's positioning the Tiguan to have a little brother sitting underneath it in the range sometime in the future.
Hmmm, those prices are all a touch higher than I was anticipating.

Is it listed somewhere (I know it is in fact, I just can't find the post now that I bloody want it!) what you exactly get with each line? Can you even get highline on the 132TSI? What are you missing between the comfortline and highline? I want leather, the sunroof, LED lights and DAP. When is the pricing coming out (I seem to think it's tomorrow for some reason).

Sorry for 20 questions. I'll keep digging through this thread.

    • Pricing is on the website you just can't see it yet

Highline is 162TSI and 140TDI only. Highline comes with LED headlights. I believe all other models get Halogens as there's nothing listed specifically. Leather and sunroof are part of the luxury pack for Comfortline. DAP is a separate pack for either Comfortline or Highline.

If you want the LED headlights the only way to get them is to go for one of the Highline models - you'll get leather but then have to option in the sunroof and DAP. The 162TSI Highline with these options will be $52.5k + on roads (but won't be available until early 2017).

If you go for a fully loaded 132TSI Comfortline (Lux Pack + DAP), you'll miss out on the LED headlights and it'll be ~$49k + on roads. You may have to order this depending on what options are available at launch.

          Nice work!

I know VW can't please everyone with the trim options but I really think they should offer the Highline trim on the 132TSI too. Much like overseas...

          • I've had novated leases and also purchased new cars and done the haggling.

Never purchased a car with such a long wait (162tsi), is there any haggling possible in those kind of situations?

            • I doubt there'll be much haggle room on a brand new car, other than the usual corporate pricing.

I wonder what the aftermarket LED headlight situation will be like lol? Easy enough to get LED head and tail lights for a Golf, but that car has a bit of a bigger 'scene'. Bit bummed that something as basic as decent lights (and no pun intended but LED/Bi-xenon(?) v Halogen is night and day for me) is only available if you shell out for the top model. Or are the lighting changes purely cosmetic?

              • The only haggling you'll be able to do is to play one dealer off against another to get to a bottom-line price. However if there is a shortage of cars and one dealer has the car you want in their inventory then you're pretty much snookered (unless you're prepared to wait).

I think once the initial peak of enquiries tails off in 6 months you'll find that dealers will probably be more inclined to bargain. That is as long as there's not a massive supply issue in which case it'll be a supply/demand situation and the dealers will be able to hold out for top dollar (RRP).

It's definitely on the higher side of pricing that I was expecting. Well at least it gives anyone looking to pick up one of the last gen 1 Tigs a good reason to snap up a drive-away deal.

                • Car advice has the official pricing/specs:

2017 Volkswagen Tiguan pricing and specifications

My specs of Highline 140TDI plus DAP comes in at $52k plus ORC.......not cheap at all but pretty well kitted out. Final pricing negotiation with the dealer will be interesting!

                  • These prices are all ball park with their rivals (I've spent all morning checking). That said, a fully kitted out CX-5 Akera is pretty close features wise to it's opposite number Tiguan, and is $52k drive away.

                    • Has anyone been able to work out the cost of the Sunroof on the Highline?

Edit to add I found it on the link below. $2k

That caradvice article is pretty much on the money with full list of specs/pricing.

The only thing they're missing is that the Highline can be optioned with a sunroof at $2,000 and that metallic paint is the usual $700 cost option (any colour other than white).

Which leads to the fact that there's a few peculiarities in the way that the options are packaged. If you want leather without a sunroof you'll need to go Highline spec. Also if you want LED headlights or a flappy paddle steering wheel, you can also only get these in Highline trim.

I'm not sure I'd agree with the title on that motoring.com.au article saying the pricing is lower... Prices are up by about $4-5k across the range if you compare to the drive-away pricing on the outgoing model
