  • The Subaru XV owners would agree with you but I just don't see it being a sellable colour for a more "luxury" alternative.

Having said that, there are tonnes of those gross orange/bronze commondores so you never know.

    • Yes the orange is a bit of a "signature" colour. They have done this colour on the Passat Alltrack and Beetle also. It works well at car shows

And yes I think all the non-greyscale colours will date. It's the kind of thing that will be only be available for a short time so if you do like the colour you'll have to purchase it while it's available.

The Caribbean blue is a bit of a funny colour too. It may look OK in the flesh - brochure colours are really hard to pick.

      • Has anyone seen a similar picture to below for the new model?

I'm downsizing a touch from a VF Calais Sportwagon and I'm hoping the new Tiguan will be big enough.

          • Great thanks!

            Compared to my VF Calais
1mm more shoulder room in front
            7mm less in rear

Knee room, not sure, will be less but more than enough judged by some clips on youtube.

            • I can vouch that 4 guys, all 188cm and 140kgs plus all fit fine in the Tiguan!

              • I wonder how long Australia will wait for the new gen infotainment system to be available on the Tiguan. Next years model maybe? Apparently available early summer 2016 (now) in Europe.

Below is a link to a walk-around of a Netherlands spec R-Line in Indium Grey. Not the best video but it's a better representation of the colour than the official VW online UK or German configurator gives. The car in the video has 19" wheels too, not the 20" Suzuka we will be getting here.

                  • Small changes from our R Line which all appear to be useful/well though out and cosmetically pleasing,
20" wheels will make the rotors look like little saucers and maybe 19s are a better option; that said it amazes me how much some folk will pay just to have bigger wheels and often the inferior ride that results.
                    Good Job VW.

                    • I just showed my Mrs the new Tiguan. We could end up with two the way she was talking! Just have to convince her the R-Line is no good for her some how. Can't afford two R-Lines haha. She badly wants a manual so maybe that'll be the ticket to a lower spec lol.

Well given the R-line is only available as an option for the top of the line 162TSI/140TDI models, expect these to be $50k+ on the road.

Luckily the only manual is in the base model

I did speak to one of the dealers recently and they were saying there was going to be a "price premium" on the new Tiguan. So reading into this there's going to be a few thousand more than current model.

                        • They can take the premium off if I buy two in one hit lol.

All joked aside, the new Tig is one of a number of cars I am looking at but the more I read and see, the more I want a black R-Line. Grrrr

They better be careful with pricing and not get too carried away, it's a very competitive marketplace and the economy is not exactly going great guns! I'm keen on a Highline diesel but as a frequent flyer at my local VW dealer will be screwing him down in price and wont be paying silly $$ 😉

Anything further on your earlier Intel that the Highline models would be delayed in Oz?

                            • Pricing hasn't been released yet but the suggestion from the sales guy was there was likely to be an increase over the current model. The RRP for the new model will be out in the next month or so. Until pricing is released it's all just speculation.

Highline models will definitely be later than the initial launch. There are no local approvals for either 140TDI or 162TSI (or 110TSI manual) and I have heard that worldwide production/manufacture of vehicles with these higher output engines is not starting until at least July.

We had the active display in our rental A4 in Germany. I'll be honest - not a fan. I like traditional gauges and found that most of the stuff on the screen was very gimmicky and uneccessary. Why do I need a full size 3 D cutaway view of the car with no actual information being displayed? You canof course select different views, but the alternates offered no benefits over a regular dash.

The ONLY saving grace was having the sat nav displayed between the gauges, with a full moving map. It's step up from the existing display in my GTI, but when I use Google Maps on Android Auto almost exclusively for navigation, it's useless to me again. Unless they integrate AA on the active display. Doubt it'll happen though.
