Got 15k service and rattle fixed by Peerless.. Great service, had to readjust the whole downpipe as misalignment at the turbo v-band made the rest of the downpipe not line up...

Discussed IS38 with Simon, they have 3 IS38's in stock, waiting for details of the condition of them.

Just use the housing and get the internals replaced....

I’m really happy for you mate, I know that rattle has been bugging you for a while. Glad it’s been solved. With the IS38 you can reuse your downpipe for the IS20. Make sure you get a revision H or one of the latest versions, earlier ones were prone to failure. I’ll also update the front page to 3xIS38s Tiguans in Victoria...

Either the latest TIG got released in Russia alot earlier than anywhere else or they really like it so have stared modifying them...

Would mean can off the road for too long, need it everyday.. Agree chasing high power outputs has negative effects on low end torque and daily driveability. When I installed a Garrett GT35 on my R33 Skyline back in the early 2000's when I was into racing, it was a real pig to drive as a daily....

Dont think the IS38 would cause these issues as it comes standard on the R and my previous ca was a MK6 R.

I thought you were looking at some of the IS38's that Peerless had in stock. If the internals are stuffed you can just usethe housing and upgrade the internals. That way you can just get the refurbished turbo bolted on and off you go!

Yes I was, but they were all low km (30,000km) or so.

Stock IS38 upgrade has been an awesome daily. No complaints, with the car in sport or with paddles it really hauls. Fuel wise, I’m getting around 500km per tank of 98 with short distance driving. Low down there might be a small decrease in peppyness compared to a tuned IS20, however mid range and top end is phenomenal.

You won’t be disappointed. This is how it should have come from the factory as the “Tiguan R.”

IS38 Tig has had the first 15k km service. Clean bill of health from the local independent VW specialist with no check engine lights or codes. Topped up with some Motul oil/fluids and she’s ready to fly again.

I also took the opportunity to fit RS3 (ELDOR) ignition coils and an APR dog bone mount (version 1). I will provide a review in a few weeks after the mount has settled in, no noticeable NVH so far.
So it’s been 2 weeks and 500km since I’ve installed the APR dog bone mount insert (version 1) and the car is perfect! Initially there was some NVH in particular on start up and when stationary, however the more km I drove the more the insert has settled in and there is now no noticeable NVH.

The steering feels much more connected with the car, in that previously it felt light and overly assisted and now it feels firmer and sportier.

The insert has had the most impact on transforming the dsg, which feels much less clunky at low speeds and when going full pelt the shifts feel more direct and in sync with the engine RPM.

In summary, a great bang for bucks mod which makes the car feel far more sporty and improves the dsg connectedness with the rest of the car by reducing lateral movement and flex between the engine/transmission and car body.

I'm guessing you got it from your APR dealer. How much installed?
