Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • The other reason I’m looking to lower the Tig is that our meter box is in the carport at exactly the wrong height:

30mm should just give enough clearance that I don’t have to worry about taking out the mirror each time I back out the car.

And at this time tigger became world famous for the perfect excuse on why to lower cars.

                  Lowering solves the problem permanently.

What do you think the chances are of getting my wife to fold the mirrors each time?? Somewhere between zero and none

                  • I’d be blaming the scratched mirror on the crooked seat / steering wheel issue. Probably same cause.

Using G-tech 20Hz GPS timer. 8 satellites so decent level of accuracy. I ran a couple of runs in each direction on a flat road so results are reasonably consistent.

VW claimed figure in their brochure for the 162TSI Highline is 6.5sec so this is confirmed

That’s a massive difference with LC. Well done getting the stock base line stats. With your runs did you have ESC on sport and DCC on sport? Now looking forward to the hybrid IS38 times...

Yes LC makes a decent difference to getting off the line. ESC Sport and DCC on sport. You're already at 3,500rpm so pick-up is pretty much instant. Plus I found that the gear changes were a lot harder when launching than normal.

Reasonably impressive for a stock SUV.

This time around I'm making sure I have a good baseline for comparison

I terms of end game that is still up in the air. One of my main concerns is to maintain the drive-ability. High flow IS38's don't really come on hard until 4,000rpm. I'm looking at a punchy street car and not a track/drag car. Considering high flow IS20, IS38, hybrid IS38 pros and cons at the moment. It comes down to $ and bang for buck plus overall drive-ability in the end.

I'd like to get 250kwaw and sub 4's 0-100 but I'm not sure at this point whether this is something that I want to sacrifice the daily driving for and whether I can achieve both outright performance and responsiveness.

Sounds about right for a LC "benefit".
