I don’t mind those OZ racing rims or the black painted/coated rims. Would you paint/coat your current rims black?
I've just updated the post to put the rim make/model in. The OZ Leggera are nice but from some angles look rather open and airy. Unless you have a BBK to show off it can make the stock brakes look small.
The black rims are Ultraleggera in black. I personally wouldn't go black - prefer the gunmetal finish or silver and these are 19" which looks on the small side - you end up with a lot of sidewall. So these are out but I just threw them up there because it might interest someone else.
I actually think the BBS work better the bigger you get. They are fairly "heavy" in the centre and a bigger size helps to balance that out and show more spoke.
OK So I've been driving the Sportline properly for the last month. I haven't done anything to it and have just been driving it completely stock before I make any changes/doing any mods.
So here's my thoughts on what works/doesn't work and what I find annoying.
Firstly I have to say I quite like it even in stock form. My wife didn't want to hand over the keys and I understand why. It's a nice place to sit. The panoramic sunroof is great on sunny spring days. It's pleasant to drive on the highway and after a long journey are not totally exhausted. In comparison to the Scirocco it's a much more relaxing car to drive on regional trips.
Adaptive Cruise works well, however it's default setting is 3 bars and I find in city traffic that's just too far. So I end up cycling through every time I start the car to set it to 1 or 2 bars which is a bit annoying. Also it does tend to cut in/hang onto cars longer than I'd like but I think that's pretty standard for adaptive cruise control systems (my previous car did this also but perhaps not quite as much).
Adaptive dampers are good - usually leave it in the middle setting as comfort is a bit too soft around corners and sport does let more of the bumps/uneven road surface through.
The 162TSI has got decent pulling power on the highway for overtaking. Off the line "D" is a bit doughey. You really need to bump it into "S" if you need to get going / want the car to respond with a level of urgency. But then "S" mode hangs onto the gears a bit long for stop/start city traffic and this gets a bit annoying. So I mainly leave it in "S" and hit the cruise button as soon as I'm up to speed which helps with shifting into higher gear. So it's a bit of a work-around but mostly works OK.
A couple of things that I found a little annoying. The fact that the Haldex engages at low speeds and locks up the rear wheels causing the rear tyres to scrub is a mild concern (more details here). Stop/start is just plain annoying as it often cuts out just when you least want it to like stopping at a Stop sign and then have to restart almost straight away. The nag screen on the head unit that comes on every time you drive and won't go away until you clear it.
I'd have to say the seats in the Sportsline are not quite as supportive as the Sports cloth seats in the old 155TSI Gen 1 Tig. I find I still slide around in the Sportline seats as the side bolsters are too low and the seat too flat. But that's just mildly annoying when driving a bit harder. For general day to day use they're fine.
So today I pulled out the Vagcom cable/VCDS and fixed a couple of the annoying bits. I've disabled Stop/Start. I probably would have preferred to be able to default it to starting off but as you can't and I have a fuel card so extra fuel doesn't really affect me that much it gets disabled completely. I also disabled the nag message on the head unit. I also enabled needle sweep on start-up just because I think it's cool and it matches the Scirocco
FYI you can change the default setting for the distance to what you want for the Adaptive Cruise Control. If you go into the Car menu then go to Settings, under Driver Assistance you can set it to either remember the last distance or what you want it every time.

NZ_GolfR you're a champion! I was going to look into trying to change the setting through VCDS adaptions but if it's available through the Driver Assistance settings that's so much easier.
