Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Well the reason I bought the Sportline was due to tuning potential plus it comes with adaptive dampers and flappy paddles on the steering wheel plus the autonomous driver aids.

Pretty much ever option I want without loading up the price with extras.

I do have plans for this one but not going to be spending $35k in mods to make a Franken-Munster. I think a high flow IS38 may be on the cards down the track

Sounds good. Do you know any places in Melbourne that can do an IS38 rebuild to make a stock IS38 flow better? and balance it after modification ?

No sorry. Haven’t looked into it yet but I know there’s places around that will balance the turbos. Not sure about making it high flow.

I’ll start with a few cosmetic upgrades before doing anything too serious.

First off will be paint and fabric protection followed by an interior lighting upgrade, sill protectors and the odd VCDS tweak.

Picking the car up hopefully end of this week but I’ll be going through the complete interior and replacing all the bulbs with LEDs.

Does the sports line not have LED's standard?

I'll check it out when it arrives. Had seen other people changing boot lighting but if it comes with LED's throughout that's a bonus.

Now you mention it, I haven't taken notice of the boot!

                          Picked up the Sportline today:

Already starting a list of "things to do" to it.

First off is going to be paint protection and some fabric protector for the seats.

Boot is going to need a LED to replace the globe and will also be getting a set of door warning lights but have to figure out how to get these wired up.

Other things on the to do list is to black out the bottom plastics and look at getting door and boot sill protectors.

Looks good! Welcome to the mk2 club. Are those 20” rims? Can I ask what the tyre size is?

                              235 45 R20, a very strange size imo...

Thanks! It took a little while because I wasn't convinced on the value of the Mk2 Tig initially. However the Sportline has everything in it that I'd want and then when the 1.8% finance offer came out I figured it was time to make change.

The Sportline is running Kapstadt 20x8 ET41 rims with 235/45 R20 Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyres. So slightly narrower rim/tyre combo to the R-line (though both are 20's).
