Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It'll still be a couple of weeks away as the car needs to come into the dealers stock (being transferred) and I also need to sell Tig #2. I'm not trading in (at this stage at least) so looking to sell privately. As soon as I've sold the 155TSI Tig we'll be looking to take delivery of the Sportline.

The problem with the 2nd Gen Tig is that if you want to tune it then you have to get the 162. Then you'll want the R-line kit for the adaptive suspension. Plus DAP for the Adaptive cruise and you're now talking a $60k car.

So when the Sportline came out I thought it was the perfect model if you were going to start doing some performance mods. The fact that it's on run-out and 1.8% finance just tipped it over the edge so I pulled the trigger.

Otherwise I probably would have been looking at a low km R-line 162 in a year or 2 when they started coming on the 2nd hand market.

Dont let the low finance deals make you think you think you are getting a good deal...

PS you could just edit your first post with updates..

Actually the low finance deals are a way that VW subsidises the sale without providing "discounts" which then hurt resale/second-hand market. It does make the car more affordable as you're not paying back a big chunk of interest.

I could edit my first post, but if things go the same way as my first Tig and I keep it a few years then I think I'll be needing a few more than 1 post for the summary ...check out my 125TSI build thread here:http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ead-83577.html

After just picking up my 162tsi Sportline a mojnth ago, I will be watching closely. Absolutely recommend a resonator delete to be the first change as it makes it sounds like it should have from the factory.

                  Congrats!

What a great "bang for buck" car.

Thanks and yes the Sportline is great value. It’s just a pity that it was a “special” model.

It’s partly why I ended up pushing the button when I did due to 1.8% finance along with the limited supply of these. There’s only a handful left around the country now.

                      Congrats mate!

She looks good. Perhaps just fast forward to a big turbo upgrade so we can get the show on the road. EFR7163 or GTX2867R would be great. That would be the new Franken-Munster that Guy built a few years back.

                        Hahaha!

Well the reason I bought the Sportline was due to tuning potential plus it comes with adaptive dampers and flappy paddles on the steering wheel plus the autonomous driver aids.

Pretty much ever option I want without loading up the price with extras.

I do have plans for this one but not going to be spending $35k in mods to make a Franken-Munster. I think a high flow IS38 may be on the cards down the track

The Gen two GTX2867r is a solid lil turbo. Helped me punch 425whp on my 180sx. that would be alot of fun in a Tig

Welcome to the Sportline club! Best value in the Tiguan range by a very long way.

I'm enjoying my warranty, so no mods other than stereo stuff for now. Will live vicariously through yours if you do mod. Mine is copping an IS38 and tune to match first day out if warranty!

Yes, though I'm not prepared to do a full engine build. At this stage my plans are to get to 250kwaw and in the 4's for 0-100. I think that's enough for a sleeper SUV.

Agree that it's the sweet spot in terms of value / bang for buck. All the dealers were saying that the grid edition Golfs and Sportline Tiguans were the ones that were selling. Both are the in the sweet spot for performance and value.

Yeah warranty is a bit of a concern for me but given the number of reported warranty claims coming up here I'm probably going to hedge my bets after the first service.

Love the rims. Unique to the Sportline!
Much nicer than the satin silver ones on my Highline.
