Don't forget your pp comes with 3k of DSG. I also purchased a pp this year and was drooling over the 40th , but to be honest I went and looked one over last week and left feeling quite happy with the pp I have. I am 44 and will not be taking my car for track days and quite like the discreet look of the pp. I actually like the pp seats better and let's face it if you want the extra kws it's only a tune away. I reckon the diff is the most important addition and
you have that as well
I just took another one for a test drive today with me and the missus. Honestly it's a great car but she hated me driving it because at low revs and comfort, it's just another GTi but when you hit the petal it does go and that's when she told me to pull over...lol
I was going to get one originally but for now I'm keeping my MK6 and saving for the Tiguan... A PP with a tune would be very close and has a lot more options to choose from to cater to your budget, that is if you don't care to much about the L-ED and aero.

Well I have a PP with an APR 1 and DSG tune. No track days here but that car is an absolute weapon. I've also added the 8" infotainment Discovery system and folding mirrors from Dean at VW Central. On top of that my PP does not squeak or rattle. I couldn't be happier.
The type of VW we own and accessorise is a very individual choice. As an example, I love the Park Assist whereas others don't care for it and you cannot get it with an ED or R. The main thing is as long as you are happy with your choice.
Just signed for my ED40, white with roof for $55K driveway. In stock at dealer so picking up next week. Couldn't really get much wiggle room on price, they said they were having no problems selling so couldn't discount, but of course they would.
Was initially looking at a Polo GTI but great reviews and looking at the Golf in person pushed me over the edge. Exciting times!

Congrats! Great car, make sure you post some pics!
Where did you get the wheels done? Looks good, mine will be red I think they would look good in the black against the red. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice Bassik, the SA guys do great reviews. Has anyone with the local model tried the launch control? All the other acceleration videos on the net show terrible wheelspin in first.

Which is... pretty natural given the car is FWD. Launch control can't do much about it, it will just keep the revs at 3K for a supposedly stronger start but it can't help load up the front axle any better than physics and mechanics dictate.
The only reason to bother with Launch control and standing start drag races is against other FWDs, otherwise it's pointless against RWD and AWD. Rolling starts are a totally different thing though and there is much more fun (means: surprises) to be had there...

That's very true, although I assume it will also help tell the DSG you want it to stay in first on launch and disable BlueMotion. It just seems the video posted above there's barely any wheel spin whereas some others show the traction control going nuts. Tyres and surface play a big role too I'm sure. Will definitely give it a workout once I get mine!
I was just watching this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlU88iS1WIE and noticed that at 5:23 it showed a numbered plaque in front of the gear lever 000/400, I know it was the Clubsport S in the vid but was wondering whether the Aus delivered ED40/Clubsports have a numbered plaque. Anyone who has taken delivery of their care to enlighten me as I don't remember seeing it in the car i demoed.

Saw the exact same thing and wondered... My Type R had this and adds more uniqueness to the car. The ED40 does not have this in Oz and doubt it does anywhere else... its an S thing.
