Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Oh well guess I'll just have to live knowing that I'm 1 of the lucky 500 owners that managed to get my hands on one. I'd also be interested to know of the colour breakdown of the 500 that will arrive in oz, anyone care to guess? My guess would be 45%White, 30% Carbon Steel & 25% Red.

        • I picked up my grey DSG with sunroof last Monday.

I took it for a little drive on Saturday up to Hornsby Heights and over to Galston, up to Berowra Waters and took the ferry across to the other side. It was great fun and I had big smile on my face.

            • Not sure if this has been posted: another reason for Oz owners to weep about our poor wheel selection (what were they thinking??), name (40years...really??) and seat selection (ditto). The SA version in red with nice rims, name (Clubsport!), and proper sports seats looks the business (this presenter is also v entertaining):

Congratulations. I've got to say the "Ruby" wheels are growing on me but for the red one I'm getting they've gotta be gloss black, thinking a red pin stripe round the rim would set it off nicely.

                    • Congrats on your new acquisition. That's a cracking photo of her parked next to the sister.

If you like the wheels then keep them as original helps to identify the SE unique quality. I personally don't mind them at all. Some don't like the Santiago wheels on the PP but I think they look good as do many others who have commented when seeing them. Beauty is a personal thing.

Hey mate, welcome to the club (sport). Having googled those rims, I hope to see them on the white car! After looking at the Rubys everyday now for 2 months I like them a bit more than when I first got the car, but am still looking for an alternative. Those Advans look schmick. Have fun with your new toy!

You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna paint the outter rim of my Advan wheels in Red. Might take a week to get done but I'll post pics when they're on the car. Cheers

                          • I must be one of the few who actually likes the look of the Ruby (Brescia) wheels, although I would prefer them to be lighter and my first choice would be the grey Pretoria that I've seen on some Clubsports. I definitely prefer them over the Cadiz wheels though.

I also don't see the problem with the naming that we get in Australia, as it is the 40th anniversary and the previous editions have all been named after the year that they're celebrating.

The only thing that I think everyone would agree on, is that it sucks that we don't get the bucket seats here. Dynaudio would also be another nice to have and the full length screen.

                            • Picked up mine yesterday, great so far, although have only managed two runs to work on the Monash so far. White DSG with roof. Just need to get her booked in for front window tints and paint protection, and find someone to help getting traffic enabled and a few other VCDS tweaks!

It really is the bends where this car comes alive though, it's amazing. Corner hunting has become an obsession for me since a few days that I picked mine up. The overall suspension/chassis tuning is so good, better than I ever expected.
