I understand the deposit is refundable. But are we at a disadvantage when it comes to negotiations/trade in price if we place a deposit before the car is launched?

Also, what are the chances of getting any discounts during the initial few months?

Confirmed on other sources speaking to VW Australia it won't be the same clutch. Only GTI Performance and R models have torque over 350nm? to warrant the wet clutch (VW savin' money again)

Also wondering if anyone has heard of numbers of R Wolfsburg Hatches coming and ordering info?

I was told the R Wolfsburg ,last time they all where pre sold before they landed.
My mate going to give me a list soon to post up for people to order.

I put 1k deposit preorder on my car to get a one of the 1st models off the boat was warned by dealer that there would be little wriggle room on price so they were up front but need car asap or would wait 6 mth and get better deal
So yes you do pay more but for limited stock items like the 3 door at 150 units or the Wolfsburg edition with i think 300 or 500 makes sense to preorder or you might miss out

I just got back from dealers 6 weeks ago put a 1k holding deposit on the alltrack got it for 54k on road with all my options i listed in other post so not a huge discount but it will be one of the 1st if not the 1st 7.5 alltrack on road in aus def the 1st red fully loaded one .
Had to promise to take all the sales reps for a drive when i pick it up

If you can wait for them to hit showrooms and specials to come out you will def save money 2 or 3 k
But if you want one of the 1st ones go in now they have pricing so you can do a deal just dont expect a big discount
Oh btw go for the infotainment pack def worth the extra money imo the 9.2 inch discover pro and 400w sound system are awesome

I preordered a gti with info+driver pack. Am still torn between getting luxury pack or not as sunroof is not something I want (but will still end up paying the same price if I go without it)

Paid 1k deposit as well and was told by dealer there is room for negotiation (but probably not a lot if any)

Gonna meet up with my dealer soon to see if I can push the dap down a bit.

Hi jjjones, I have got metallic paint with dsg. I haven't got an actual price from the dealer yet though. Just got affirmation that the price along with all the packs would be less than a manual r (dats with the lux pack included). So I am hoping it to be just touching the five figure driveaway or less (haha).

The stock Spielberg's are possibly the worst wheels I've seen on a Golf.

Yupe as in 50k. I will be trading in my existing car as well. Hopefully can get a good price on it to bring the figure down the 45k mark.

Spoke to a dealer or two today, no one can confirm this will happen, my impression from them both is that the answer is no Wolfsburg will come with the Grey version of the Pretorias.

Also can confirm from today's jaunt, the performance model (GTI/R) launch date is around 13-15 Aug. Rumours they might get 1 of an R or a GTI into each dealership around late June as a display model. Talked about deposits, varied from hmm no its binding and you lose your deposit if you change your mind to nah! its fine, we'll refund it if you change your mind. Guess its all down to the contract.

Last Wolfsburg release (MK7) the dealer's had access to plenty even after official release date had gone (i.e. they didn't sell out the moment they were available). They were also still able to negotiate on price. And they could get you one from another dealers allocation if they didn't have the particular colour/options you wanted.

First hand experience on the MK7 Wolfsburg hatch release.

I wasn't too sure about the info pack. Will give it a good thought. 400W Dynaaudio is tempting. Based on what I read, the sub woofer fits in the space saver and hence no bootspace will be taken up. Is that right?
