Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Fits me to a tee - but prefer to negotiate my better price and keep the broker's fees in my pocket.
I get why it would appeal to some though.

I'm not saying they're rubbish, just that better pricing and real relationship building can be achieved personally.
Originally posted by Rooboy View PostI'm with you on that. I've been very happy with the prices I've got on my last couple of cars, which has a lot been better than the fleet pricing obtained by the leasing company. Using a broker will appeal to others though as it saves a bit of leg work too in addition to some savings on the price.
Horses for courses.

A lot better than fleet pricing is certainly impressive. You and Rooboy clearly know what your doing, but for a majority of people out there I would think it's fair to say that relationship building on a purchase that happens every 2-5+ years is a bit of a long shot.
I don't know if leasing companies and the broker I was using are the same thing, but I had a leasing company chase a price on a car for me once and it was nothing all that impressive.
Another caveat, for those kids interested, is that some on some cars, limited editions for example, they just can't do fleet deals.Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburger

For me it is a game, one I play way too regularly.
Regarding leasing companies v brokers, they may or may not be the same thing, it will depend on who it is. Leasing companies are usually part of, or are, salary packagers and they're also interested in the finance involved (which at times is a lot more profitable than selling cars). A true broker is only looking at the price negotiation and couldn't care less how you pay for the car. And both sides will cross over into each other's territory.
Finally you are also mostly correct on the last point as well, there is usually minimal incentive for high demand product to be discounted. Having said that, that certainly was not true for one limited run that avid readers of the Mk7 threads would have interest in.
