Kiaorana: the appointment of a "case officer" is normal protocol for VW Australia - sadly in my experience "it don't mean Sh#t"!
It's simply their way of fooling the hapless customer into thinking that something is being done.

I truly hope that I'm wrong, but what you need to do is to wait a period of time, then call the case manager and move progressively up the command chain at VW Australia. At some point the whole process will freeze, and the usual glacial pace for which VW Australia is famous will kick-in.

It's very screwed up when you can be ignored for such a long period of time.

Have you tried fair trading (and once they fail to be useful) NCAT?

I'd be putting your desired outcomes in writing and sending them in on paper (along with a scanned copy via email if you like).

      Options would include:
      a) Replace the unit now to resolve the issue.
      b) Provide a loan vehicle with similar feature until such time as they can resolve the issue (and leave your car with them).
(or pay for the loan car you are going to hire until such time as your car does what it's supposed to do).

You then move into the more extreme measures of:

      c) Replace the vehicle with a working one of the same spec.
      d) Provide a full refund.

request everything in writing. While detailed written notes with names, dates and times are nice. Nothing beats written records. If they call, request they put any offers to you in writing.

The usual disclaimers apply, ie I'm not a lawyer etc etc.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Skipped fair trading because they can't enforce anything, went to a lawyer and requested refund or replacement as I had waited 3 months at that stage - they ignored the lawyers letter and chose not to respond.
Lodged an application with NCAT last week and waiting to hear back from them.

Jake, yes, that what it means. For the past three weeks, I haven't been able to listen to music, use satnav or my Bluetooth at all. It just doesn't start.

I've just been reading up on the update that was released in the US and the UK (91N9 UPDATE), turns out that it is not for R models and even if it was I wouldn't get my hopes up because it appears the update is not working correctly.
Failing to upload, jamming, causing errors etc....

There's hope guys. I called VW Australia to complain again and within 15 minutes of hanging up, I got a called from my dealer who booked me in for Thursday to apply the newly released update.

              I'll keep you posted.

That's good to hear, be interested to know how you get on.
The update doesn't appear to be for "R's" so I wonder how much longer that's going to take.

Well, that was disappointing... I just picked up the car, as I kinda if thought, the unit couldn't stay on for long enough to apply the update. They need to replace the entire unit which will have to come from Germany! They couldn't tell me how long it will take!

                          Thanks for your concerns guys.
Mine's been replaced twice and is still not working correctly - personally I think it is the screen itself, loose and dodgy connection.
They have assured me it is not the screen and vw will not give approval to change screens.

Mine behaves differently in different temps, all these hot days means it is starting each morning in under a minute.
The other week we had 3 cold days in a row and it was approx. 5 mins start time each morning.
Back in the winter months it was approx. 10 mins.

Don't blame the VW technicians, at the end of the day they are just doing their job, imagine how annoyed they get when the fixes they are trying suggested from the factory don't work, alot of the time all they want to do is keep you guys happy, I know personally of a guy that goes above and beyond to fix issues for customers, Kiaorana I see you visit Gold Coast, his there, helped me out a bunch with my Amarok and recently when I was stranded with my mk6 took it to 3 different dealers in QLD none could fix, called this dealership spoke to this guy and he offered to come roadside to me and see what the problem was, 1 hour later he was there, FIXED the issue no other dealer could fix (after 7 months with other dealers!) and I was on my way. What a tremendous guy, really knew his VAG COM aswell, obviously now I take my car there now.

Hi The One. You make a very valid point and I'm not blaming the technicians at all, the guys are trying their best. I think I might know who you're taking about. If that's who I think, he really helped me out too with my park assist not working and as you said knew his vagcom real well. He actually drives an Amarock too. I'm actually not blaming anyone here, I'm just annoyed that I haven't had any music, nav or Bluetooth at all for weeks now.

I'll throw my hat into the ring as to having had issues with my MIB II unit as well. 4 times now the screen has died on me, but the rest of the unit functions as normal (music still plays, can control stations etc. Just can't see what I'm doing).

It's a stupidly frustrating issue and one that caused me to not pay attention to the road for 2 seconds and resulted in me damaging the underside of my front bumper (very low driveway dip). Normally takes a complete restart of the car after about 20minutes of waiting to correct.

Drives me nuts. I expect it to be fixed when I go for my first major service. I wonder if I should be informing the dealer now even though I'm still 10k off the 15k service?
