MIB 2 dead?

Mattaus, that's exactly how mine started, it was doing what you described maybe once a fortnight for a couple of months, then all of a sudden, it completely died out.

If I were you I'd go to VW and ask them to apply the software upgrade straight away, otherwise you run the risk of the unit turnif itself off and then they won't be able to apply the update. I now have to wait four weeks for a new unit to be shipped from Germany.

Please let us know how you get on with your dealer. My local dealer (which also sells a heap of other brands) does not even know there is a problem, well the desk staff that is. If you have some joy at your end that will give me something to use.

My story is I have had the black screen about 4 times now, fixed if I turn off the car and wait about 30 seconds before restart. Biggest issue is the "Park Pilot not available" error message going into reverse which must be a weekly occurrence now.

I'm booked in for the 16th of Feb. Could have been sooner but I needed a courtesy car and that was as early as they could provide one. I explained the issue to the lady on the phone, she talked to someone and said bring it and we'll check the car out.

Doesn't mean they're going to solve it, but I was very clear about what the issue was, why I wanted it looked at, and what I was 100% sure the fix involved. We'll see how I get on once they actually have my vehicle...

This is an old update, my golf my16 picked up from the dealer last week has software version of '0622'.

Please note that I had an intermittent issue with the rear camera basically one time it did not the camera at all.

It's outrageous in a 50k car.

Here is the technical release from VW America. I wonder why Australia is lagging behind.

So you have a version a lot higher than 0613 and are still having problems?
Doesn't sound like these patches are going to cure all the reported problems.

I'm not having all the problems you have, the only issue for me is at one time the rear view camera did not display for a period of time but again this is intermittently.

That's not specific to MIB IIs.

I've had this happen to my 2015 MIB I a few times now. Usually shifting to neutral and back into reverse brings the image up

Thanks for the advice, last time it happened, I shifted the gear to 'P' and turn off the engine and it did not fix.
Will try your trick when it happens.

Well, I had the software updated today. The service advisor said the software has only been available for about the past week or two and addresses the Park Pilot, screen failures, Apple car play, bluetooth faults and many other issues. The advisor further said that there are 2 different type of radios and mine had the correct radio. I had no idea there were 2 different radios, unless I misunderstood and she meant it is only available for MY16 models with MIB II. I only had to wait about 1 hour. My issues were not as bad as others and only intermittent, but I did not want any of those issues to escalate. I will see how it behaves and advise.

Hi there wilsim. I wish I could help, but I can't. When I saw your post, I phoned the dealership and asked the service manager who in turn asked the foreman and neither knew the answer. He said the only way to obtain the details would be to reconnect the computer into the system. He also said it was more of a rectifying update rather than a map type update. Dunno what difference that makes. I should have asked yesterday when I checked in my car.

The only thing I can suggest is that when someone else has the update done to ask the service manager specifically when the car is checked in and before the work commences.

BTW: One of the fixes included Bluetooth connectivity. This morning I had the same problem as the previous version in that when connected into my iPhone to listen to my mp3's, about 10 to 30 secs into the first song there is silence for about 5 or so seconds then all good after this. This is no big deal and I can live with it, but it would be nice to have it working working with no issues. I think it is not the iPhone as I don't have this problem with Apple Car Play and I've not had this problem with other Bluetooth connections.
