launch has to be end of september...date unknown, although rumour is 21 sept. as we know, there are cars here already landed and gone through customs. i understand there are another two vessels on route with more Rs. one is coming from the west, first stop perth and enroute to melbourne, the second is coming from the east, first stop brisbane.

it appears if you want a blue one this side of christmas, you've almost got no chance getting one. then again it comes down to how good/motivated your salesperson is to try and secure one for you. if you miss out on blue, the next batch is due in jan/feb.

    28th October I believe.
That's when I'm told I have to wait for my wagon until.

Do we know when the launch event is? I don't have a date for my R yet but I was told that it would be once the launch event has happened.

Order my R, blue, not a wagon. Interesting fact, it has been in the country since august but VWA will not release it until after their launch event.... C**ts...

there's a thread on vwgolf.net.au that itemises every single part of the car if anyone is interested. page 11

No they are not LED. The parts list has them as standard lights.

Nice work man. I just signed a contract on a blue Wolfsberg R wagon!

So stoked as apparently they are as rare as hen's teeth in that colour. Originally the dealer the lease company put me through said he could only get me a Limestone grey but I checked another dealer and got the last one they had in blue. Due for delivery in January which ties in nicely with the end of our current lease! Now for the looong wait lol!

Still trying to find some video or pictures of the Wolfsberg R wagon but hadly anything out there. Did find these tho. Look pretty sweet!

The biturbo diesel wagon was my first choice, but it will not be available in Australia until at least next year (if at all).

It is a shame VWA won't be offering the Passat B8 biturbo diesel. It puts out 500Nm of torque! I had my heart on that model when there was whiff of it coming to Aus.

I bought a Wolfsburg edition wagon because my current R36 lease runs at the end of the month and I wanted another performance wagon to replace it. Ultimately I paid about $6k more than a standard MY16 R hatch, but I didn't want to risk waiting in case VW didn't bring any more wagon versions - as there is no other new car currently available at around this price that is any better than the R36.

I have a friend looking at getting an R wagon and so had a chat to one of my local dealers to get some more info for him - mainly to help in his decision making. The dealer was happy enough to look on the system to tell me what cars/colour combinations were available in the state and they also gave me some more general info regards to the situation Australia-wide.

I agree that with the demise of the R36 that the Golf R wagon would be a reasonable alternative for a lot of people. As far as whether the Golf R wagon is going to make it here in a non-Wolfsburg spec I really don't know. It's all speculation at this point but given that it has only been brought in as a special edition the only thing you can work on (in terms of a buying decision) is that once these vehicles are sold there will not be any more at least in the short/medium term.

The B8 Passat is only being sold in a 132TSI and 140TDI spec at launch. At the moment there are no approvals for a higher output Passat and certainly no 6 cylinder options. The new Skoda Superb has a 162TSI and 206TSI AWD option (Mk7 Golf GTI/R engines) so I think that you'll not see a V6 in any of the MQB platform vehicles.

There certainly seems to be a bit of a gap in terms of having a high output wagon.
Thanks for clearing that up. Your local dealer seems like a great source of information, and your sharing of it should be highly appreciated by all.

In my opinion, the fuss made over the Golf R wagon Wolfsburg Edition would make little impression to either a dealer's bottom line or that of Volkswagen Australia, no matter what people pay for it. However, upon reflection, making the Golf R wagon a mainstream model might be a risky decision, given the extreme popularity of SUV's. Wagons from all manufacturer's have taken a huge hit over the past few years, and the Golf R wagon may be no exception. So I agree with you, if you want a Golf R wagon, now might be your only opportunity.
