I believe so. They haven't hidden it behind the grill emblem.

And they definitely haven't gone the way of stereo cameras

Thanks for the pics. Current version looks a lot better for sure.

Have to wait a month extra for my new Golf with the DAP rather than without so just making sure i'm making the right decision!

You made the right choice! Trust me driving a car without ACC on the highway is a pain now...

I would definitely wait for DAP again, ACC makes long distance driving so much easier.
Occupant Protection hopefully won't be used but could be good too.

Enabling Lane Assist (Lane Departure Warning)

Hey Guys, new here just got a new 2015 Golf R with the Driver Assistance Package.

It has Adaptive Cruise which is awesome, but I drove some other cars which have Lane Assist (Lane Departure Warning) and I really like it.

It seems like the overseas models have it

                  https://practicalmotoring.com.au/fir...7-first-drive/

Im not sure if our mirrors have the camera. if they do, it seems like it can be enabled here
                  http://www.stemei.de/pages/coding/vw...eischalten.php
                  http://www.stemei.de/pages/coding/vw...eassistent.php

Does anyone know if this is possible, or if not, could we replace our mirror with one of the overseas ones and then enable it?

I'd love to have this function on my car.

                  Thanks for your help!

It's probably possible but it could well be more than the mirrors that need replacing. It could need a different internal controller and different wiring requirements (power and signal). It could be very expensive and time consuming to plumb it all in.

33ASY: Hello and welcome to the forum (and congrats on the new car - great choice!).

Like you, when I first read about the Lane departure warning system, I thought what a great idea! The Golf R tends to be a very well equipped model and I'm really not sure how much additional "smarts" it has to support Lane Departure warning. But here is an overall picture of the required bits to have the facility operating (alas as Mattlock has indicated, retrofitting lane departure warning is more than just fitting the front camera behind the rear view mirror)
                      Cheers
                      Don

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

I already have the Drive Assistance Package, so I have the steering wheel and button on the signal lever as well as the Lamp in my instrument cluster I think.

Im not sure about the rest of the things though, and it seems like a big job. I dont know why they'd take them out of the Aussie model..

So Unfair. Was hoping maybe someone had done this already, like how people are retrofitting new audio systems in.

The Golf Driver Assistance Package doesn't have the camera in the windscreen that's required. I don't believe it can be (easily) retrofitted; no-one's attempted it that I know of. I can't imagine it'd be cheap.

I'm guessing it was removed from the local spec to keep the price down.

It's an interesting feature, but to be honest I'd be surprised if you'd use it often unless your daily commute was 90% freeway. I don't like the way it makes the steering feel when it's enabled (firms things right up so it's quite difficult to make small corrections), so even when I'm on highways I usually leave it off.

When I bought my R a couple of months ago, I asked the dealer about the DAP. He said that it is such a complicated setup, it has to be done in the factory and cannot be added or removed by the dealer network. Therefore I guess it's very involved to even add/modify one part of it.

                              OT:

As for specifications for AU, there are a number of things that we don't get here that I would have liked to have seen:

                              1. Folding wing mirrors
                              2. Motorsport seats and electric seat functions for the normal seats
                              3. Upgraded Discovery Pro 8" screen and sub-woofer sound options.

I understand why they've done it (simplified costs, easier to understand options list) but there are a number of things that feel like glaring omissions to me.
