Driver Assist Package II - Discussion and Questions
Today I have experienced the full force of city brake. It is seriously scary. It was unintentional, the car in front of me slammed brakes to standstill n pulled over. Mine stopped even before I took control, with a weird display on the dash board, I need to check the manual what it means. It looked like a car with all sensor waves towards all directions.
I was so happy but was so scared n worried about the car behind would hit me. All happened so quick and nothing to worry in the end. [emoji41]
Did it look like a car between two lines and chevrons in front of it?
I get picture A most times, and I think I got picture B when a car detected with in the adaptive cruise radar set distance. When picture A comes there is no audible alert. So when u r concentrating on the road you miss it and all of a sudden car brakes if the car in front slows or stops suddenly because driver ignored to brake or take action . I wonder how to set it to make a sound when picture A is displayed!
I only get to drive it an hour or two in a week, because it's my wife's car. But these are the observations in that time. So I am sorry if I am wrong in my assumptions.
Picture A is the car telling you you are tailgating the car in front
The screen for front radar picking up a car during normal use is different to screen B. I've only ever seen B under duress together with the loud beeping noise and the brakes being jerked.

Associated Wiring
Potentially need new mirrors however you could probably make up the wires and run your own through to either the door controller or bcm, i havenn't checked on wiring.
There is another post around on vwgolf.net.au for mirrors where i details the part numbers. you would be looking at least $2000 to retrofit.
Hey all, was looking at the VW website. In the build and configure tool for the Golf, Driver Assistance Package II is listed. However, there are no details anywhere about it on the site, or their sales brochure.
I've read somewhere it's the same as Driver Assist Package 1, but now with blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. Can anyone confirm this please?
Hi. I have also recently noticed that the VW AU website is now suggesting that the new Golf (MKVII) is available with DAP II. You are very correct in that VW AU is pretty quiet about what exactly DAP II includes. I ordered a new Golf TSI103 with R-Line package and DAP in Feb and questioned the dealer just the other day about exactly what my vehicle would arrive with given I had noticed that DAP II was now being advertised on the AU website.
It would appear that new orders for MY15 Golf's from late Feb - early Mar 2015 will be delivered with DAP II (where ordered as an option). The dealer indicated that my vehicle would be DAP II equipped. It was suggested that this would mean the addition of Blind Spot Detection over and above the std DAP package.
I presume the functions are as listed in the MY15 brochure specifications.
Driver assistance package - optional:
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Front Assist with City Emergency Brake (City EB) function
Driving profile selection
Park Assist, parking bay and parallel parking assistance
Proactive occupant protection system
A lot is listed as standard (except the poverty pack model which only has the first 2 and dealer accessory rear parking sensors):
Driver assistance systems (standard):
Driver Fatigue Detection system
ECO tip function, fuel efficiency advice
Parking distance sensors, front and rear with acoustic warning and audio volume level reduction when sensor warning is activated
Optical Parking System (OPS) in radio/navigation display
Automatic kerb function when reversing, passenger’s side exterior mirror
Rear View Camera (RVC) with static guidance lines
I presume with the optional package, the front parking sensors are deleted in favour of the front radar that runs the adaptive cruise and city emergency brake.
No idea what the "Proactive occupant protection system" is.
