  • Driver Assist Package II - Discussion and Questions

Hey all, was looking at the VW website. In the build and configure tool for the Golf, Driver Assistance Package II is listed. However, there are no details anywhere about it on the site, or their sales brochure.

I've read somewhere it's the same as Driver Assist Package 1, but now with blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. Can anyone confirm this please?

Yes, it's true. DAP2 is only available in cars built from wk3 of 2015 (MY15.5), which are only being offloaded from the ship this week (so will take 2 or 3 weeks to go through customs, compliance plate, transport to the dealer, then pre-delivery check.

They don't make a big deal about it on the VW website as they have plenty of stock of older cars, and no stock of the DAP2 cars.
Golf VIII R-Line MY21.5 fully loaded – sunroof, sound & vision package (head-up display + Harman/Kardon stereo), Pomelo Yellow premium metallic (a.k.a. Lime Yellow in most markets) – ordered 18/3/21, delivered 17/8/21.
Previous VW group cars: Golf VII Comfortline DSG MY15.5 pacific blue; Golf IV Sport MY04 reflex silver with sunroof; Golf III CL bahama blue; Audi A4 MY95 tornado red; Porsche 928S3 MY85 guards red with sunroof.

Ah, excellent. Thanks for the info!

Going to test drive a 103 tsi wagon tomorrow. If all goes well, will place an order with DAP2. Looking at June/ July delivery.

Are you sure that is the case in Australia?

Cofrmed. Ordered my car today, definitely no lane assist. They mentioned blind spot, but no one is sure if it comes with rear traffic alert.

The Lane Assist feature relies on a forward-facing camera mounted in the rearview mirror (near the light/rain sensor). I don't believe it's fitted to the Mk7 in Australia (although the Audi A3/S3 Assistance Pack includes it).

Correct. I almost bought an A3 before this VW and the Assistance Pack has all the features that VW disables in Australia.

I ordered my new GTI in January and the dealer mentioned that AU don't get lane assist, however a couple of weeks later I was told that there would be a minor delay in delivery because of the new driver assistance package. When I asked what it included I was told this:

In terms of the new driver’s assistance package, below are what is included:
                      · Adaptive Cruise Control
                      · Front Assist
                      · Side Assist
                      · Lane Assist
                      · Driver Fatigue Detection System
                      · Blind Spot Monitor :
                      - Detection of cars and motorcycles in the blindspot
                      - LED indicator is displayed in the door mirror
                      · Rear Traffic Alert
                      - Warns the driver of approaching traffic at the rear of the car
                      - Display is shown in the Optical Parking System (OPS)
I'm doubtful that lane assist will be included for AU, but I won't know until late April/Early May either way.

                        Hi
I was car shopping with a friend this weekend and asked. The new driver assistance package II for Golf includes adaptive cruise control,
blind spot monitor with rear traffic alert, front assist with city EB, Park Assist (not for R!) and proactive occupant protection system.
NO lane assist. The sales guy showed us the bulletin but couldn't give us a copy.

Has anyone managed to get the driver fatigue system to sound a warning with DAP installed?

I have tried to deliberately change my driving style, jerking the steering, sudden braking and acceleration etc, no go.

I had the driver fatigue warning sound a week or two ago towards the end of a 3 hour drive. Not sure what set it off but I was getting a little tired. ACC was active at the time too.
