Quicker update process
Hi Guys
I just successfully updated the Map on my 2014 GTI Performance, Version 2, from 0027 2014 Map to this new 0031 2015 Map.
Thanks to all who helped with this.
The download can take a while, and the extract and update process also can be a bit long, and I have a suggestion that worked for me:
After the download open the .7z zip file and extract ONLY the DBInfo.txt file and the aus folder found inside the markets folder. I put the download and the extracts in a new folder on my laptop. Then backup (copy) your complete old SD card info into a new backup folder, this step will take a little while. Then delete the old DBInfo.txt file and all the folders inside the markets folder on the SD card (Keep the markets folder). Now copy the NEW DBInfo.txt file to the root of the SD card (meaning Not inside a folder) and the NEW aus folder needs to be copied inside the markets folder.
This way is quicker because all the unnecessary country map folders are not copied. I don't think I will ever take my GTI to countries like India or Asia
Regards
Mike

Hi,
I have successfully completed the update following both the OP's instructions along with Highcam's streamlined suggestions above. Worked perfectly and I found Highcam's suggestion saved a fair bit of time. Thanks very much to both.
Cheers
Rick

Just picked up the new 92TSI with the 6.5" discovery MIB II, maps are now V3 (3G0 919 866 K). Has a quick look with VCDS but yet to find out if traffic signs work, also interested in this with the Audi's system.Flipper Dog
Now - T-Roc R, Audi Q5
Past VWs- T-Roc R-Line, Golf 6, 7 and 7.5, Touareg 7L and 7P, Passat B5.5, Polo MK3, Polo MK4 and GTI

I was surprised to hear that this facility was working in Australia. The "Traffic sign" recognition is not part of the SATNAV unit (as I understand), it's a function of the driver assist facility and specifically, the front looking camera that is positioned in front of the rear vision mirror (VW call it R242).
I had first thought that the picture that you posted would just be a result of the front camera picking up the flow of vehicles in adjacent lanes. When did Australia start using the "red filter" system for traffic sign recognition?

I don't believe it has anything to do with camera's picking up signs, I think its just programmed into the map in the same way the speed zones are (they also show up on the map).
I don't have the Driver Assist package on my GTI however I still get speed sign show up on the map when driving (using the old map, havn't had a chace to update it yet). Happy to be corrected.
