There's a drop down menu on the left labelled 'Start here' that lets you specify make, model & year then takes you to the link for either the full download or download it in parts.
I think I'm doing it right. I select my car etc and when I get to the end it says at top "New map release - November 2016"
Okay so as advised the VW dealer upgraded my media unit in early Jan with the firmware update to correct the pronunciation and the then latest ROW2016 maps.
I followed the links on this thread & was able to download & install ROW2017 maps, which were working - however, today I noticed that the route number boxes on major roads were blank (e.g. route no B63). Voice guidance still gave the route number instruction but the boxes were blank.
I reverted back to ROW2016 and the route number boxes were populated with the correct display.
Any clues? The only thing different I did do with ROW2017 was removed the Sth America folder so there was enough space on the V.2 SD card.
I have 2 questions regrading my VW Golf Navigation System 1. I bought this car at 2015 (brand new), is it possible to update the Navigation system at dealership? The GPS is not quite update, sometime it told me to make a right turn when there is a sign say "no right turn" 2. Because of the job I am working at, I always need to go to some places that is a developing suburb (e.g Wentworth Point) which on my existing GPS it does not even appear on the map. I have to use google map, which lead to another problem, I am a P plate driver which I am not allow to use a phone as a GPS. I know that the new VW cars has the app-connect function which connect the apps from the phone to the car. So I can use google map without using my phone. For sure I don't want to buy another new VW for this function, so I am just wondering is there any workshop or auto tech store who sell these system and install it, any recommendation will be nice. thanks in advance

Navigation.com, you can download and update the map there.
But seriously tho, save yourself the trouble, get a cradle and use Waze, Google Map or Apple map. The in car one is pretty rubbish even updated and with traffic reports enabled...

whats the different between this and a phone handler that cost only $10? And the website say it needs a professional installer to install, any recommendation stores I can visit in Sydney?

Oh that's not what I meant at all. Just a regular holder I use one that holds the phone on the air vents so it's out of the way and it has an adjustable bracket so I have the phone facing me from the centre vents on the passenger side. I can send a picture if you need
In fact, I tried the in car nav this morning running together with Apple Maps after replying to your post. The car navigation's arrival time estimation was completely wrong (10 mins earlier, didn't take into account traffic), and it tried to take me some weird way.
Issue if anyone can assist. Problem solved thanks to post from another user. I formatted the SD card and reloaded ROW2017, but instead of deleting a whole folder, I just simply deleted one large file in the India folder to make sufficient room.
All route markers are now populated with correct route numbers.
Not sure this is for the 2017 Tiguan so for those owners be careful.
If I select the MIB2 unit that shows the 2017 Tiguan in the list I only see November 2016 maps.
I'm going to try these May 2017 MIB1 maps (after backing up current maps) and will report back.
UPDATE: As I thought not compatible. Completely different file structure.
Best site to go to for ensuring it's for the right vehicle seems to be: VW_APAC
Yeah you need to be careful you get the right maps.
You may have also notice this is the Golf MK7 folder and I did say they were for MIB 1. If you are looking the MK2 Tiguan than that is MIB 2 or Discover Pro mapping depending on what system you got.
At a guess I'll say the other maps will be released over the next couple of weeks as they all come out 6 monthly, so keep a watch out on the links.
