    I'd love to see:
    • Improved responsiveness
    • Media Player doesn't jump to FM once a month when it decides the Media Unit in the glove box isn't responding in time
    • Media Unit/Head Unit sleep function is more consistent. Turn off engine, wait 30 seconds, turn on radio for instant on. Repeat another day and entire system takes 30 seconds to 'wake up' after having been on 30 seconds ago.
    • "Pay attention to Road" warning is more consistent. Drive to 5 places in one day, and have the warning pop up every time. Leave the car overnight and it doesn't pop up in the morning. It would be much nicer if it popped up once a month or less.
    • MP3 Gain Tag support

Its no Tesla that's for sure.

    • I think improved responsiveness would need a high end unit like VWCentral sell. We only rated the one with a small processor here in Australia :/

When I press "traffic" I simply get a blank page stating traffic reports 0 .... is this a sign that it is active and there are none, or that the system is not receiving / displaying them? I have TP and RDS switched on in the settings for radio and media (TP).
The latter. You don't get a message saying the system is not enabled.

            • Wangara VW strike again!
              - Tried for map update in July 2016, after following this thread. Was told nothing available, call back in a couple of months.
              - Got the email from VWA, rang again, to be told they were having troubles implementing updates on older Mk 7 Golfs (mine is the first mk 7 wagon on the streets in Perth probably, built late 2013 in the Black Forest).
              - Asked for maps to be updated during a service last week. Was told the maps in the car were the latest available for my car. They are the v1 2013 maps! I responded that I knew they were a few updates out and MapCare needed to be turned on to update, and offered the ROW 2017 maps (Nov 2016 release, July 2016 datestamp) on a USB stick. Booked in for today for another try, after turning down an offer to look at them again when next serviced. Not waiting til January 2018 thank you.

              - Today, maps upated, after implementing MapCare and supplying a new v2 card, since the old v1 card didn't work. Woohoo. Assured they were the latest in the system at Wangara VW (yes I'm now naming the dealer - was more polite/discrete previously, but enough's enough). Only one problem - the maps are ROW 2016, July 2015 datestamps!

Aaargh. No wonder VW has a bad rep at times. At least now I can maybe try to update them myself, as others have done.

                • Does the VW SD card have to be used for the maps? I have tried a 32GB SD card that I have spare and it didn't work. Formatted it fat32 and copied the current map folder that is on the VW supplied card to my card and it didn't work.

So either it doesn't like the card (car plays music fine off it) for maps or there's another trick to get this to work.

                  Any suggestions?
                  It's a MY16 Golf R

Yes I believe it does need the VW card. I think the card has special firmware or similar for it to be identified as genuine.

                    Shane.

                    • Ok thanks. Tried the VW card and it worked immediately. Was keen to leave the card as is in case it didn't work but that's clearly not an option!

In future make a copy of the contents in a folder on your computer just in case things go wrong.

                          Thanks,
                          Shane.

                            Details!

Read them ages ago but didn't revisit when I actually got around to downloading. 30 sec revisit would have saved me a lot of time!
